Same - barely make it in and then get smacked and out we go.

This is why I was so frustrated earlier in the year - best chance in years given the competition and lack of a standout team. We now are playing good football and giving ourselves a decent chance.

Yep, thought we'd make the 8 & in an open season our progress thereaffter would depend on injuries etc. But didn't "dare to dream" or the Latin equivalent thereof.

While I admit my optimism got a little shakey for a while (especially on that long flight back from Perth) I never once considered cancelling the leave I booked for the end of September.

No. We have three generations of suffering at the moment. The latest has only suffered for a couple of years so he's relatively well adjusted.

I knew our form would return but didn't think we'd be going into the finals looking this strong....just trying to keep a lid on it now!

I always thought we could finish as high as 6th, and maybe win the first final. Those were my expectations during that forgettable period. Never thought we'd finish third way back then.

Now that we have finished third, I think we can go all the way and win the premiership. It's a tough ask still but I know the boys have the ability to do it.

Oh and btw, at the start of the year I was expecting a finish of around 6th to 4th. We really do have a good team ladies and gentlemen.

                      I've had a rollercoaster season.
At the start of the year I though we would do really well. Soft draw, good form the previous two years.
Mid year, I thought we might as well bomb out and get draft picks.
Then somehow we snuck up to 3rd. We'll rue the missed chances we had earlier in the year which could have got us 2nd and home finals all the way.

At the start of the season, I was thinking 7th. Early on in the season, I was thinking 10th.

I never thought priority picks though - too much of a drop-off from the last two seasons, although that didn't stop Collingwood, I see.

It's true I had my trepidations about the chances of making the finals, especially as we were nearly a third of the way through the season and crappy teams like Richmond were way ahead of us. I thought about the priority pick and what a Judd could do for our team in the next few years.

Problem is being a long suffering Swans fan I am following the Roosy principle of "talk it down" - I hope we don't fail again and find all these supporters with so much optimism once again calling for heads to roll. Long live the Swans in September!

Actually I thought there were some positives from the first WestCoast game, yes we got crapped on in the second half but our failure to kick strate helped them and dispirited us no end. Also it was LRT's game on Ashley Hanson at CHB that really started me singing his praise, Hanson beat him but he was far less effective than he had been.

At the start of the year, I felt "the vibe" for a Swans flag in 2005 in the same way as the lawyer from the movie The Castle did.....

I didn't know why particularly "the vibe" feelings existed however, I knew that with the talent on the Swans list, the sound administration of the club and the coaching staff at present that "the vibe" was right for a flag above Sydney Town Hall in the first week of October 2005....

However, around Rounds 3-6 the feelings about "the vibe" started to wane enormously, as evidenced by my feelings that up to 12 players on the Swans list should be either traded, delisted or retired at seasons end. That list has now been reduced to between 5-7 players....

The vibe is back bigger, better and stronger than ever my friends....
