    Match Ups

My early match up predictions would be:

    Midfield

    Kirk - Cousins
    Williams/Ablett - Judd
    Ablett - Fletcher
    J Bolton - Stenglein

    Swans Forwards

    Hall - Glass
    Mick - Chick
    O'Keefe - Wirrpunda
    Goodes - Hunter

    Eagles Forwards

    Lynch - Barry
    Hansen - C Bolton
    Matera - Crouch
    Gardiner - LRT

Their forward line is the weak point, if we can contain their midfield they will struggle to kick a score.

I dont know if Cousins will get a first up tag as he has been suffering from a back complaint and has a pretty poor last month by his standards and it did appear that the Crows by-passed tagging Cousins.

Embley is a danger for us. Who do you think will take him? I'm guessing Dempster would be the best match up as both are quick and tallish.

A damp dewy night wont help the weagle talls in the forward line. Quite possible we'll try LRT on Gardner, but just as likely is that Ball will play a fair bit in defense like he does on Everitt as well.

I don' t think Kirk will tag Cousins. I think they can go head to head, Kirk will play tight but still get lots of the footy.

I think LRT will get Hansen again. Gardiner is a big, strong unit and maybe too big for LRT at this stage. B2 maybe physically smaller than LRT but has the body strength and experience not to be worried by Gardiner.

Last time we tried Kennelly, it was very unsuccessfull. Perhaps we could give the kid the job.

On the other hand perhaps we could play Goodes out on Embley's wing and have Stenglein follow him out there and send someone quick (Fosdike) out there to make a 4 some?

For the match at the SCG when the two teams played each other you had Ablett on Judd, Willo on Cousins and I can't remember who Kirk was on but he wasn't on Judd/Cousins.

Is Cox playing for Weagles? Because I have bad memories of his first half performance against us.

Along with Hanson and Lynch, they will certainly play Cox/Gardiner up forward after their last game against us. And of course Embley runs forward too. They they may even play Staker there on occasions as well to really test our short defence. LRT, Leo and B2 are going to be tested.

I completely agree about Embley. It would be a big win for the Swans if Dempster can do the job. If not, Goodes or Kennelly may need to be assigned.

Cox also needs to be contained? will they just rotate Jolly and Ball throughout so that they are fresh and able to go the distance with him.

Another midfielder that may have to get attention is Kerr, would Ben Mathews be able to fit this role?

Big job for LRT on Gardiner? big job.

My first thought for Judd was Crouch. He could play a similar role on him as he does with Akermanis. i.e. make him completely ineffective. Crouch will be good for Matera, but so would Kennelly or Mathews. It would also free up Paul Williams.

i reckon benny mathews will play on braun. kerr is a tough one - maybe buchanan? what about fletcher? if crouch does play in the midfield maybe schneids will play on matera.

agree about embley, very tough to match up on. i think kennelly and dempster will play on either embley or sampi

Sampi may be dropped this week due to poor form.
