How are you feeling right now????

Something's different this year. I guess anybody can say that walking into any finals series, "this is the one, this is going to be the year", but for me compared to '96 and '03 this year feels very different. In those years I felt wound up like a top during the whole of Sept. but right now I simply don't feel as on edge as those years.

Instead there is a calmer level of anticipation that we may well prevail. Is there a higher expectation level, more confidence of success?? I don't know, but I'm hoping it's a good omen.

A bit sick as I usually feel before any finals game. A mixture of excitement (that we can win this and what that means) and dread (that we might lose and have to take the long hard road to get to the GF).

        Worse than 2003 and 1996.

I never expected much in those two years really...now I do.

So the weight of defeat will be all the worse. After 2003 I don't know how I coped, so this time would conceivably be worse.

          In a word. Nervous.

          Actually really nervous.

This game is our grand final.

Win it and we will win it. That is how I feel about it.

I just saw a headline on SMH - Injured Williams out for rest of year. My heart stopped as I clicked...then found out they were talking about Australian Major League baseballer Glenn Williams. Bastards!

A bit of a mixture really. I have a lot of things on this weekend (Our new car arriving at the dealer any minute now, Swans playing tonight, Eels playing tonight for the NRL minor premiership, Sydney FC playing tonight, Australia v Solomon Islands tomorrow night, Sydney Swifts playing in the CBT grand final tomorrow afternoon) so it's a combination of nerves from all those things.

From the Swans side of things, I think I'm pretty calm actually. It's early in the finals campaign. We're pretty well placed, but with less expectations because we're not top 2, and playing away.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Pumped!! On a plane at 12.40, land in Perth abt 3.30, drop the bags & then head straight to the game!

Then it's me, the other stalwarts of Section 332 and our 22 R&W gladiators against the dastardly Eagles. Bring it on!!!

Nervous as hell. Will we pass this difficult test of winning at Subiaco oval? Can we win this important game and get the home preliminary final? Our form has been talked up in the last week or two, but are we the real deal?

For some time now I have been working on the belief that as each season passes we are repeating history. Although we talk a lot about the qualifying final win of 2003, I feel that last year was also significant. Last year, we did two things that we haven't done in a long time. Firstly, we won a final in consecutive years for the first time since 1936. Secondly, we won a final by the biggest margin of any final we have played since 1934.

And this year? We appear to be repeating some events from the 1933 season. In 1933 and this year, we started both seasons off slowly and peaked at the end of the year. I hope the trend continues for another four weeks.

That's what I feel as well.

I am pumped, excited and getting nervous.

I have the jumper and hat on at work today, and sent our two year old off to childcare wearing his jumper. I even got my wife (reforming Crows supporter) to wear red to her office by telling her that "any boss who doesn't let their workers support their team in September is a BUM!".

I even have the singing bear in my office to get my colleagues into the spirit
