Yeah that's why I had been blocking out next week's action until after the end of this match - that's when it all sunk in.

So do we want Geelong or Melbourne to win?

Not sure but I'm thinking Saturday to give the team tomorrow 7 days to recover maybe.

Last year we played the final on Sat night and then the following week on the Fri night.

So wouldn't that mean that the winner of the Port/Kanga match plays the loser of the other QF on the Fri?

            ETA: Found it on AFL.com.au

Winner of Elim 1 vs Loser QF 1 - Fri
Winner of Elim 2 vs Loser QF 2 - Sat

The final telling moment was the two Cox marks in defence in the dying seconds, uncontested!!!

I know I won't be able to sleep (unless I take a leaf out of footyheads book), but I'm going to bed!!

Good night, and see you all when my hand has stopped stinging from punching and smacking the coffee table (lucky it is made of solid pine otherwise it would be fire woood by now).

Well, even considering the bad umpiring, mistakes cost us the game.

                  - MOL missing a sitter

                  - LRT's pass

                  - Kennelly missing an open goal

                  - Hall was well beaten

                  - O'Keefe had another poor final

                  - J Bolton was ordinary

                  - Schneider was poor

                  - Ablett was ordinary

                  - Where was Jolly when Cox took those two marks at the end?

On the positive side, Kirk, Buchanan, C Bolton and Kennelly played very well, Ball and Davis were good.

Night footy. It always seems to be dewy and takes away from the skills. Probably why Barry dropped his marks as did O'Keefe.

Any stats on whether we play better in day or night. I reckon the day.

Sorry, I dont buy it. Because hte mistakes ran both ways, so they didn't "cost us the game":

                      - Sampi's missed sitter

                      - Fletcher's dumb kick across goal to Davis

                      - Matera's pathetic chip inside 50 when he finally had taken a mark on the lead

                      - Embley's poster when straight in front and on the run

                      - etc.

The umpiring WAS the difference. Mistakes will invariably happen in a tough contest. I reckon they evened out. The scoreline was one goal apart. The incorrecctly paid frees to them and the incorrectly unpaid ones to us was the difference.

This is one of the reasons why I hate night footy - makes it less of a spectacle.

NMW. the same could be said about WCE, but I am not going to list them as they were unmemorable.

What is memorable is the free against Leo that should;t have been paid, goal to WCE game over.

I'm not a lover of night footy either. Skill level drops, there seems to be more mistakes. Hope we get a day game next week.

Ohh just found the Real Footy info on the shepharding decision.

13.05 Wow! A controversial free to Stenglein for being shepherded while the man on the mark at fifty results in a wonderful long pressure goal. Ump got it wrong in our opinion but it was a great kick. SWANS BY 3 POINTS

Of course both sides make mistakes, but good sides take advantage of opponent's mistakes and commit less themselves. We had chances of kicking more than 3 goals clear and WC never looked liked coming back until we gave them a sniff (and then the umpires added - but we should have won in spite of them).
