How many finals have been played at the SCG? Is it three or four?

..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I reckon that was 2 points actually (unless my memory fails me entirely, which is very possible).. Nicky Winmar almost put St Kilda in front at the death, but Micky O harrassed him enough to put him off his kick.

Greg Stafford (hah!) with the winning goal.

Something a little less... er... exciting... might be better for my nerves.

Something in the way of a 10 goal win would set me up quite nicely for the rest of the weekend.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Apologies Des you are spot on. It was 2 points. If my memory serves me ,my backside never touched the seat in that final 5 minutes.

This may surprise many, but the SCG has never actually sold out for a final, even 1996 prelim I bought a ticket at the gate on the day.

                1996 Hawthorn 37,010
                1996 Essendon 41,731
                1998 Saint Kilda 36,076
                1998 Adelaide 37,498

In fact, only one final has made it into the Swans top 10 crowds at the SCG

                46,168 Sydney v Geelong S.C.G. 1997
                44,047 Sydney v Geelong S.C.G. 1996
                41,731 Sydney v Essendon S.C.G. 1996
                41,264 Sydney v Collingwood S.C.G. 1999
                41,243 Sydney v Collingwood S.C.G. 1997
                40,623 Sydney v Carlton S.C.G. 1997
                40,131 Sydney v Essendon S.C.G. 2001
                39,827 Sydney v St Kilda S.C.G. 1997
                39,763 Sydney v Hawthorn S.C.G. 1986
                39,318 Sydney v West Coast S.C.G. 1997

The Geelong numbers in themselves are interesting, but they conincided with the last Ablett/Lockett tussles
Your figures could in fact support a sellout. Note the 2 highest crowds at Geelong matches. A final against them highly likely a sellout.

You are right there. But still feel interest is enough to provide a sellout. But your point is well made.
