Parkin has concerns over the toll Perth took

He thinks it would have taken about 4 days to recover from the match and is tipping a close game on Friday night saying that the Cats really didn't have to play contested football. He thinks even if Sydney overcome the Cats it could be their last hoorah for the year due to the exhausting nature of the match. I wonder if anyone here who went to the match in Perth can comment on how the players looked coming off, the cameras mainly focussed on the Eagles blokes.

Parky might be on the money there. Our boys will be very fortunate to get over the Cats and Friday. Our midfield and backline might be spent, but I'm not worried about our forward line.

I honestly dont think the game was physically that demanding. Sure it was tough and hard-running, but they have had a full seven days to get over it, and are returning to the smaller confines of the SCG.

It will be more the mental aspects that will determine whether they feel up to it or not. If they are truly over the disappointment of the loss, or are using it as motivation for this game, then they should be agressive and full of energy. I trust that Roos will be able to get them fired up properly.

The Swans played a series of tough, demanding games during the season. It is often said that the Swans' approach to the game leaves other teams spent afterwards.

The fact that they have done it so often and backed up afterwards makes me less worried than if the toughness of last week's game been different to the norm.

One could just as well postulate that the relatively easy, low pressure nature of Geelong's win will make it hard for them to adapt to a more crowded, pressured game.

Geelong certainly have a decent chance on Friday but I believe they are going to have to play close to their best if they are to roll a focused, determined Swans outfit.

I was initially worried as well but that's why the club pays big bucks to the likes of Dave Misson to make sure they are alright.

You can be sure that the preparation will be spot on physically and mentally.

The noises coming from the camp this week have been encouraging.

Geelong are a day behind in recevory...I'd say it's fairly even.

Cats have also played 3 in 13, or will have played. You wonder if their coach whingeing about the tight schedule will affect their mindset.

I think the Swans are mentally tougher than the Cats. I'd be surprised if they let this one drop.

Watching the players at Subi they seemed distraught rather than exhausted at the end of the game. But the ones coming to the bench right below me were looking very tired. And it could be quite warm for the game on Friday night.

I have been worried as well, on a couple of counts. Firstly the mindset after being robbed of the possibility of victory by the low standard of umpiring. Psychologically that must hurt. Secondly, physically. We played on Sauturday against Hawks, had only a 6-day break to the Eagles and had to make the second most difficult journey across country in a season... That coupled with a pretty hard game, leaves a question mark over how the players will respond.
The upside is that this team has the chance to make a statement here to the vfl heirarchy...to the biased media...to the knockers and detractors. They have this year's destiny in their own hands...the SWANS can rise above it and still go on to the premiership.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

LMAO Yep, if Ump McInerney was there he would have pinged White for illegally shepherding King from the ball by way of aggressive facial contact. Deserved three weeks in hindsight.

The positive is if we win against the Cats the AFL can't stuff us around again by giving us 6 days break before coming to Melbourne (like they did before we travelled to Perth). We get a minimum seven days (but then may possibly play Friday night again).

Already confirmed by the AFL, it will be Friday night.
