Hall, more than most others in the competition, can be the dominant presence on the field, but he hasn't been in his two finals this year.
Sydney's game of slow build-up from half-back did not help Hall's cause. But take nothing away from Scarlett, who was magnificent and continually set up counter-attack opportunities from half-back.
The other aspect of the duel that surprised me was why the Swans continued to play Hall so high up the ground.
He has been winning the ball up on the wings in the past two weeks. If the Swans are to go any further in September, Hall must be kicking goals inside 50."
