    Andrew Schauble

I know I sound like a broken record, but he should come in this week. Despite St Kilda's injury problems, they still have both Fraser Gehrig and Nick Riewoldt available up forward. The only players we have currently who can go to them are Leo are LRT. Leo has had about 13 goals kicked on him the last two times he played on Gehrig, and as much as LRT has improved, I don't have a lot of confidence in him taking on Riewoldt. Our current fall back key defender is Craig Bolton, who can't compete with either of them for height.

We really need to have a backup option. I don't care if, assuming things go well, Schauble sits on the bench or is hidden away in a forward pocket. We must have a Plan B. Schaubes is the only logical choice.

I totally agree but didnt want to be the one starting this thread as most people by now would know my feelings about Schauble's place in our defence. His experience, leadership and ability would surely be an asset to the team this Friday.

Please bring him back this week.

Disagree entirely. They needed to put him in a month ago, if they were going to play him. We all know how much match practice he needs (at the elite level) so I think St. Kilda would just expose him. I don't think you can just throw a bloke like him into a preliminary final.

We definitely need him in the side if Hamill plays, which we may not know until they run onto the ground.

Too late for Schaubs. If we wanted cover for LRT or Barry, we should have given him the odd senior game in the last couple of months to get up to AFL speed.

Even if Kosi doesnt play, I have real concerns with LRT's ability to hold Reiwoldt, and Barry's ability to hold Gehrig. I guess Bolton could cover Reiwoldt, but there is no one else for Gehrig.

Prior to Friday, Bevan last played in the seniors in round 13. Schauble last played in round 11. Not a big difference except that Schauble is far more experienced in finals and doesn't get shorter as the game goes on.

I'm sorry but have I read this correctly? You have concerns about LRT?

LRT couldn't cope with him last time, and Reiwoldt was only 75% fit. It will be a real yard stick for LRT, to see how much he really has improved in the last few months.

Yep, perhaps you havent read any of my other LRT posts correctly.

A yardstick that we're staking a Grand Final on? No thanks. Not without a Plan B.

Nice try, slip in a criticism under cover of darkness to claim a balanced attitude later. Busted!

Exactly, While LRT has improved, he's still a long way from All-Australian selection, and thats what you need against Reiwoldt to beat him.
