A left field idea might be to put Goodes on Reiwoldt if LRT is getting beaten. Goodes aint doing much elsewhere at the moment, and has played CHB before.

BTW, welcome back Barry. Your sentence over?Occupational hazards:

Gherig doesn't play smart - he just plays as a gorilla. So how about LRT starting on him - and see how much he has learned about marking contests? But can't see B2 on Reiwoldt - or Leo. Gherig with his injured thumb (and groin) might be a bit easier to contain, anyway.
Edit: I was writing as others were posting. Sorry about the overlap.Comment

Nah, LRT needs to bulk up before he could handle FB, especially Gehrig. His best position is CHB.
And Barry could be freed to move on Reiwodlt. Barry bodywork is really suited to Reiwodlt. I noticed that Reiwodlt often tended to lose the mark once there is some body pressure to his body. When Barry goes for spoils, he often attacks the opposition body as well.Comment

I'd dearly love to see Schaubs back in. He can offer an option at both ends of the ground.
Having said that, I'd be suprised if Andrew was comfortable about being brought back in for the prelim after missing most of the season when young guys who have been playing are not in the squad.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

He is, but he would have a bit of an issue with the selection.Comment

Who played on Gehrig for the Crows final ?
I seriously doubt Gehrig will be the biggest problem. Our midfield has the toughest assignment, and restriciting supply from there is the key. Gehrig has a sore groin and sore thumb - Leo should be able to cover him easily. Our Greatest Moment:

I'd like to see Schauble back in to mind Gehrig, who will mostly rely on body strength I think given his lack of fitness. Having said that though, it presents a great opportunity for Barry to run off Gehrig.
My call would probably be to play one man loose in defence, either to cover Gehrig or Reiwoldt if he remains close to goals. Not sure who is best for that - I don't think Kennelly has the defensive ability for that and I'm not sure if LRT has the smarts to do it yet.
The advantage of Kennelly though is if he is left as a loose man then he can provide our run off half back. Given the likelihood that our midfield will be beaten, I think we will need to rely on our defensive rebound to get the ball to our forwards, hence I think the plan should be around ensuring Kennelly and Barry have the ability to rebound.
I would put C Bolton on Riewoldt.
I can't really see a great matchup for LRT - probably just wherever there is a gap.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
