    Camping out Friday night

For queue tickets. I've never camped out for tickets before for anything. Is anybody else planning on doing this, or am I completely insane?

    I am.

Hoping to get there 3pm Friday. If we lose, at least I get to go home to my own bed.

That's keen Erin! I wish I could get there that early. I'm hoping to be there soon after I knock off work....around 5ish. Are you bringing a tele or walkman for the game? Do you know exactly where to line up yet? I'm comforted to know I won't be alone, although I don't want too many people there!

Sorry, I dont see the sense in missing the game against the Saints (on TV) for the sake of securing GF tickets, should Sydney win. And it will be the longest night of your life.

I won't be missing the game, I have a teeny battery-powered tv that I'll have with me. I'll also have my knitting (I know I'm a grandma!), a torch or two and a book. I'm sure it will still be a long night, but knowing we are in the grand final the next week will help me through I'm sure

And as Erin said, if we lose, we pack up and go home with only a few hours of our lives lost.

I have definitely no such plans to queue for tickets. If I'm unable to get them I'll watch GF on TV as always whether the Swans are in it or not.

Well, if we win you deserve your Grand Final tickets. While I'm singing Cheer Cheer at the MCG at the end of the game I'll spare a thought for the two of you, knowing that your effort will be worthwhile. And I'll also be hoping that my mate with whom I hope to going to the GF with will be joining you very early the next morning.

I'm speaking at a football thing on the Monday of Grand Final weekend, so my uni is paying for me to go down for the week. As I'll be there anyway, I'd HATE to miss it should we make it. Thus the queueing at 3pm Friday.

I camped out at the SCG overnight in 96 - arrived about 8pm on the sunday night to find one Peter Hatley had grabbed the first spot and that I would be third (with three ticket windows that made me effectively first in line )

Tickets were sold from the Roundhouse (the building that surrounds light tower 4 just outside the main entrance to the club rooms). My guess is tickets sales will be there again, queue tickets also maybe.

My advice is that, if you're the first arrive and it's not obvious where to queue, that you start the queue there. With the construction of the clubrooms that area is now undercover.

I also can't see the point of missing the preliminary final. Let's face it watching the game on a handheld TV is surely the worst of all options??!

Eirinn - can you phone me? My PM mailbox is having a fit (and says it's full with two short messages in it).

Well it certainly won't be the 3.5m screen we have in our home theatre room, but I can watch it on that screen on Saturday with queue ticket in hand.

I intend to enjoy the preliminary final and if we win go to Melbourne and buy a ticket off a scalper. If we make it there will be no Melbourne teams in the GF so heaps of tickets will be floating about. Therey are not as expensive as the media will have you believe and they are always plentiful.

I did it in 1996 and it only cost $150 for a ticket which was only $70 over the face value. Seems like $70 well spent as opposed to missing the prelim and then camping out all night.

I have never understood this either. Happens, (or used to happen) all the time in Melb. Miss the PF to get GF tickets!!

If I get there before midnight on friday I would say that my chances would still be good to get a ticket?
