Whilst Mick Partridge was known as Big Red he wasn't around for the 90 GF at Erko & wasn't that type of person who would seek retribution anyway - he was a class footballer & let his skills do the talking.

The guy you are thinking of was Wayne "Fire Truck" Hollis - he would do anything that Ronnie asked & Ronnie played on that.

Do you know if anyone at the Goanna's got Ronny's 3/4 time address on video because I reckon it should be shown at all coaching courses.

Thats how you rev a team up.

The thing is he could really coach because i went to his 3/4 time address in (I think 96) Grand Final when he was at Wests hoping for an encore. However he spoke sense and managed to help get them over the line.

I remember Ronnie's 3/4 time speech in 1990 for Parramatta at Erko. I think it was against Norths. I didn't know who he was at the time but it did leave an impression on me. I am sad I missed out on 1991 after hearing of his exploits there. I doubt there has ever been a better orator in Sydney footy or anyone with the ability to attract players from all over Australia with contacts everywhere.

Harman v Macquarie Uni @ Harman
Belconnen v East Coast Eagles @ Belconnen
            Cardiff v Balmain @ Cardiff
Gosford v Penrith @ Mt Penang
            Wollongong Intraclub @ Woonona 9.30am
I posted the Cardiff V Balmain results in another thread but will repeat for those who are interested (and i guess those who aren't too!!)

            Cardiff 2.1 7.2 11.4 13.9 16.14.110

            Balmain 1.5 5.7 7.10 9.11 9.12 66

The first 2 periods were basically reserves with the last 3 Senior players. Both sides were missing a good number of their senior players and both sides took it as more of a hit out than anything else.
The game was played in great spirit and the conditions made it necessary to shorten the game by 1 period (It was over 30 Degrees and quite humid).
We were happy for the hit out and look forward to the season ahead.

I have got the video of the 91 GF but no 3/4 speech on it - but I could recite some of the more famous quotes ... but not on this forum!

In 96 I thought his offsider & team runner Tony Cocks really rallied the boys & was the major contributor for the victory - he basically took over training for the 8 weeks leading up to the GF (one of Ronnie's tried & true methods ... includiing one where he rolls out Harry Bietzel for an inspirational talk about his 11 commandments!)

I think Ronnie's best speech at Wests was ironically against Norths & also at his last game as coach for the club. It was the last round of 1997 & the side couldn't make the first grade finals so a few players decided to drop down to reserves to qualify for that garde's finals - the committee supported the decision whilst Ron was filthy about it & let everyone know about it during his quarter time speeches. It was my only game ever at full back - I had the pleasure of marking the beanpole David Willis.

I'd forgotten about Cocksy. If there has ever been a better runner at any level of football including AFL I havent seen it. The bloke went 3000 miles an hour from the first bounce to the final siren and got abused the whole time and he never seem to slow down. I geussed he and Ronny must have been good mates because you would have to be to cop the @@@@.

I think you will find importing Harry Bietzel just prior to the finals was used again by another SFL premiership coach a few years after Ronny did it.

"Given that Round 1 will see you play for your 3rd club in about 6 matches i didnt think you would be that attached to your latest club yet".

"Who do you intend to play for in Round 12"?

                  Humphrey,

It will be 3 in 9, if you are going to post statements about me you may as well be accurate.

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers referring to your quality comments earlier and thank you for justifying it with the one above.

As far as the 3 clubs go mate, they are all quality clubs with quality people and they all had and have my upmost respect, loyalty and effort during my time with them. Individual acts and individuals involved with clubs should not be the measuring stick for general club assessment.

As for Round 12 and "who do I intend on playing with", I am not sure if that is a statement or a question, it looks like a question.
C'mon surely you realise that I don't intend on getting sacked every year?

I heard you were coming out to Bensons Lane for a run with the Jets.......it was the "brown paper bag and RSL drink card" that sealed the deal..Thats our standard bargaining chip.

Thanks mate, great to see a club with a player welfare policy.

Since you are supplying a drink card the brown paper bag must be to save the RSL carpet or the lounge and coffee table when I get home....or maybe it is in case I run into my new friend from RWO!

Best of Luck for the season Kanga Coach.

From what i hear C'Town has recruited pretty well and on top of that you have also got some good young talent to work with from last year in Fleming, McAlister, Skuse, Kershaw etc

Lets hope you can make guys like humphrey unhappy and become a force once again.

                            Roo,

Cheers mate, I am certainly looking forward to the season and I know that all the players are as well. The couple of guys you mentioned have all had a great preseason.

Kershaw has made the Rams squad and will certainly be a bonus when available and Flemo, Skusey and BJ are the sort of young guys you can really start to build a team around.

As you mentioned a few new faces in 2006 should assist the young players to develop.

For the sake of clarification, it should be pointed out that Earl was very much a Penrith junior, playing over 150 games for one of the local junior clubs before playing in an U/18's premiership with the Rams.

His time with Campbelltown was relatively brief.
