I only just missed you on Sun. Got there a bit late thanks to working. East coast looked like a well drilled and disciplined unit. Unfortunately I had to leave before the final or else I was never gettin on again.

Dont worry we'll be there but I will edit my post anyway. Have played at both on numerous occasions. Its a shame that picken basically get little use as its surface leaves Wagner for dead (havent played on it for last 2 years). Plus the fact you can have a beer and cheap meal afterwards.Comment

Scores from Cardiff V Balmain Today:
Cardiff 2.1 7.2 11.4 13.9 16.14.110
Balmain 1.5 5.7 7.10 9.11 9.12 66
The first 2 periods were basically reserves with the last 3 Senior players. Both sides were missing a good number of their senior players and both sides took it as more of a hit out than anything else. The game was played in great spirit and the conditions made it necessary to shorten the game by 1 period (It was over 30 Degrees and quite humid). We were happy for the hit out and look forward to the season ahead.
And we won't mention the fact that yours truly kicked a sausage roll and is quite pleased with himself right nowComment

No...No Walk off!
As I said... Originally it was slated for a 6 period game but a combination of missing a few players/@@@@@@ it was hot took its toll on both sides. Balmain were great. Good Day had by all.Comment

Surface does tend to hold up better than Wagner, tends to hold the water more which has served it well the last few dry years, bogs up something shocking when it rains though.
It will be getting an upgrade of sorts. Canterbury Council will be building new change rooms and resurfacing the ground this year I'm told. I think you'll find Wests seniors back there when this is done.
In the meantime Wagner is getting a resurface this year but that won't mean much unless we get some rain.Comment

It gets plenty of use by Wests Juniors during the year. Pretty much 8 till 4pm on home game Sats. and 3 more games on home game Sundays.

Hope Pickens upgrade goes ahead but have been hearing about it for a few years now. Prefer playing there than Wagner.Comment

A bright start to a sunday-11am at Picken Oval after a huge engagement party the night before. All the talk at the do was of old clashes with South West, many a tough fair bruising encounter. Both coaches agreed to 4 quarters, and neither team was disappointed.Although both teams were understrength, the footy was played at a fast pace, with players putting everything into the game.Personally,we got plenty out of the game, with positions played not the usual to some players, and with the highlight of the day being yours truly kicking 2 goals from Full Forward(1st goal since Fire Brigade trial in 04)we ended the day looking forward to our first game. Many thanks to the South West boys for organising the trial, always a pleasure to knock heads with the Pies.(PS-i think we won-Wheels,Tara-where were you?- did anyone on your end keep score?)Comment

we didn't keep a close track of scores but I think tara sounds about right may have even been a couple more than that, but we don't count fullbacks who get lost at the wrong end of the field.....
I hope your bro hasn't got too much of a headache, and he assured me he couldn't see out of that eye before the whack. Bit disappointed the umpire from the other end decided he needed a 50 ..... such is life..... i guess.
Seriously, thanks to you and your boys Pekay, as you said both teams understrength, and Sunday AM, but it was good fun and well worth it.I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.Comment

Hahahaha i've been getting shirt put on me since i happened to move myself up forward,i'm only good for trial goals these days.Disco is fine, cant stop talking about his goals so he's forgotten all about his eye.Definitely well worth it,more should be done to help out clubs like ours,we are a big part of Sydney Footy after all. Tara, you should've headed down,i didnt leave til about 430,stayed upstairs for a few(too many) bevos, then picked up a handful of rocks and watched Sydney Uni-Penno have a dip. A lovely sunday, thanks to all involved.
I was only going to come down for and hour the get back on the ladder. As it was I was still painting at 6pm. Pretty eventfull weekend given the scaffold toppled late on Sat arvo(whilst moving to on very uneven surface) and I party'd most of the weekend with Ted (last years ressies coach) and his misses.
Did I also mention that at about 9.20am on Sat we hit overhead power lines with the scafold - Thank F for aluminium. Still yet to workout what to say to the hire place about the hole blown out the side of it.
Im going to stick to playing footy on weekend and accounting during the week. Im sick of painting every weekend.Comment
