PRELIMINARY FINAL
Western Suburbs v Pennant Hills
Who will win and why?
Wests have had a tough run in the past two weeks with two tough, physical games, which admittedly they thrive in.
They will know they have another two tough ones to go if they are to win the flag.
The Magpies caught the Demons off guard with a physical gameplan the last time they met and wore them down before running away in the last quarter - Penno will be ready for that this time and proved in the third quarter of the first semi that they had taken measures to improve in this facet of the game.
Injuries are important as well, with Paul Folkard missing the first semi for Penno and Adam Fiddler, David Linsen and Matthew Cox out of the second semi for Wests.
Cox will be back in this week and will add run to Wests' team, while Salem Kassem's match up with Laine Spencer (hopefully) will have a lot to do with the result.
The other thing to take into account is the loss of three key Wests' staff members to AFL commitments at the SCG.
What sort of a role will that play?
Also, the loss of both Wests' ruckmen last week - Tim Lambert and Andy Eurell - Lambert likely to be out, Eurell unsure.
They will need a ruckman against Alex Fraunfelter who is in good form.
I've read elsewhere on here that the second semi finalists haven't both made the grand final for five years or so and Wests will be desperate to reverse that trend.
I'm giving them another chance, and am unsure how the multi pronged forward attack of Wests can be stopped - with four big marking forwards able to spend time down there.
This should be a thriller.
