Point taken DLH, he was a Penrith junior who only spent a couple of seasons at C'Town. But my point was that his football didnt go backwards whilst he was there, in fact it probably helped him to get drafted to the swans.

most of the sydney draftees get noticed with the NSWACT RAMS program, and have less than 1 season with a senior club. there maybe 1 or 2 exceptions which im sure people will let me know. however the players get most of their development and training with regional training squads not senior clubs. when a club claims they produced a player i find it quite laughable. the credit should go to the rams program and maybe even the players junior club long before a senior club gets recognition.

as to the draftees whereabouts could someone put together a short list of players known to have come from sydney (hunter inc) and their respective club. (last 10 years only).

IMO it is only worth counting those who have played AFL games. Otherwise the list is skewed as the Swans have drafted plenty of Sydney kids from all clubs who were never going to make it but gave them a token Sydney component which didnt cost them anything.

        It is a short list.

Pennant Hills -Carey, Chatfield(1 game) McVeigh, McVeigh, Hayes

        St George - Davis, Addison

        North Shore- Playfair, Roberts Thompson.

Wests -Stafford (more than 10 years)

I have probably forgotten some but you can add to them.

The McVeigh boys played all of their juniors at Killarney Vale on the Central Coast (and went to penno as 16yo???). Penno deserve some credit but where is the line drawn. Did Hayes play juniors elsewhere too???

Your on the wrong track there Coastal.

Mark started at Penno as an 8 or 9 year old. They still lived at the coast but didnt miss a midweek training. Jorrod started at Penno as a 5 or 6 year old playing u/8 or 9s.

Hayes and McVeigh played together from a very young age for 5 or 6 years before both going to the Rams as under 15's.

I remember seeing Mark as a 15 year old weighing 50 kilos take mark of the year standing on Greg Coffee's head at Olds Park in one of the few first grade games he played for the Dees.

To those of you have asked which club I support I spose you now have an answer.

Woodsy you are talking about Arthur Chilcott.

                    Mark Roberts - St George
                    John Evans - St George

McLure moved to sydney when he was 11 from WA.

Are you saying Mark played all of his juniors at Penno? There is a photo of him in the KV rooms as about a 10 year old winning the Central Coast B+F?????

Arthur Chilcott comes from the Dapto Hawks and is the one and only player from the Wollongong area to make the VFL/AFL (I think?). He still lives in the Gong and did a little bit of coaching with the Lions this year.

I've heard of your recruitment tactics "lie, lie lie" but i suppose if your club has nothing to offer it is the only way to recruit a kid from a rival club.

What you have told these kids is a disgrace and they are now pondering there future after finding this out.

Considering St Georges success of having players go on to bigger and better things (e.g Aaron rogers, Declan Donohue, dylan Addison) what exactly are you offering these players to further there career
Thanks for the indirect rap of helping to develop players so they can go on to bigger and better things. I am sure you are aware that I blooded both the Addison boys into senior football as well as Glenn Coleman who is also at Werribee with Tim Addison. As for Declan Donohue maybe you can ask him if I helped him develop as a player?

You will notice that my recruiting strategy for the most part is based on players who I have had the good fortune to coach in the past and I know have a tremendous amount to offer. There are no lies or promises, just an understanding that if a player works hard he will get an opportunity. What he does with that opportunity is up to him.

If we did not have anything to offer then we would not attract players?

It is easy to repeat 2nd hand information and make unfounded accusations when no-one knows who you are!

How about you pop out and see me at my office at Monarch and I will show you around and explain our vision...and since you asked so nicely the two players we have signed are Ed Wilson and Pat (Beefa) Aley.

Pat was the captain of St George U18's this year and is a tough and talented onballer who played senior football under me as a 16 year old.

Ed Wilson is a 203cm Ruckman who was a member of the 2006 Rams Squad, he is another player who I blooded into senior football as a 16 year old. He has an enormous amount of ability and the attitude to go with it.

We are pleased that two young players with so much to offer have chosen the Campbelltown AFC as the environment they believe will further their football.

Now why don't you enlighten us all as to what I have offered them that is such a disgrace and maybe you can ask the boys what they think of their decision?

you seem to be pretty close with kanga yourself so why dont you tell us all what was offered to these two kids, which still havent been named, and we can then decide whether or not my comments about recruitment tactics are valid.

Finally im not sure what you are getting at by naming Earl shaw, matt withers and chris oliver?
it is a proven fact that the st george club has the best record of local kids and players going on to bigger and better things, i really should have put the words 'just to name a few' in.

the only bell i hear ringing is Kanga's phone:
"hi kanga what should i write next"
You must stop giving me backhanded compliments, I am getting embarrassed. It is also no secret that as many if not more young players were blooded into senior football and played consistently in my time at the Crows than any other time.

Maybe if you stopped looking at them as "kids" and treated them as the young men that they are they would not want to leave?

I can also tell you (for Roos satisfaction, not yours) that I have no idea who Roo is at the moment but would be more than happy to have a chat to him if the opportunity arose.

                                Any more questions?
