Sydney AFL clubs will compete with local based Gaelic Football sides in the 2nd Sydney International Rules Competition on Sunday 4th March at Princes Park, Auburn. This year the teams will be playing for The Mick Raftery Cup.
Following from the success of the inaugural competition last year, this is a great day for clubs that are looking to kickstart their 2007 seasons by competing in the 15-a side round ball compromised rules tourney.
The competition is sure to be played in a competitive but very friendly spirit and be a great format in which the players can hone their skills & coaches can give untried players & those that trained hard a go.
Basic format of the day would look like something like this:
- 3 round robin matches to determine top 2 sides in each group
- 10 minute breaks between rounds
- Top 2 sides of each group play-off in semi-finals (at the same time to avoid any advantage)
Good luck to all clubs involved in this great initiative.
