The idea of the GPS system is monitor what position of the ground the player is running to and comparing it to where they receive the ball, etc. It shows the player where they should run to in specific positions and yes how hard they should run.

My point is that in a competition where clubs meet on tuesday and thursday for training i highly doubt that supercoach is going to sit down with his players and analyse all this - which it is designed for.

Its not used for competition to see how far someone can run. You would much rather a player in your side who knows where to run and get the ball - not a player who runs 14km and gets 5 kicks for the day
I saw a bloke on Saturday in the 1's with No#1 on his back at Balmain run 14kms and he struggled to get 5 touches in total let alone 5 kicks and I'm not talking about L Stanford from ECE

i have never once big noted myself on this forum and never will, cause i accept the fact im pretty ordinary. The benefits are fairly self explaintory, able to see how hard ur pushing urself throughout the game, can be broken up into quarters. With the stats and the video footage that KC has of every game doesnt take much to analyse and compare each players performance.

U'd be shocked at how much time and effort KC puts into analysing every game, so get off the blokes back....im not in anyway trying to suck up to him....cause he knows me very well and that im not stressed over the grade i play.

Looking at the Cairns AFL website they use the same software as the SYdney AFL this year & they are having troubles putting the scores on their site as well ... and they have played 2 rounds. Maybe worthwhile putting a note on SAFL website?

I think you should just listen to blokes like Booza on this one champ until you do a little more research.Yes GPS does track your positioning and movement but if you have ever seen the player track from a game good luck trying to follow it. Not only do we use GPS data but we also utilise Dartfish Team Pro Analysis Software, why don't you look them up and get back to us all on it's benefits. The websites are as follows: www.gpsports.com & www.dartfish.com.au

Now don't you go losing any sleep over me finding time to analyse and use all this technology, I can assure you that we will be using every advantage it might provide.

Your the professor of the comp champ so why would i look it up. And for the record i know how it is used after being involved at an afl club and if you were as cluey as you make out to be then perhaps you might re-visit how to use it.

Go Eagles you appear to be well educated in AFL. You appear to indicate that you are or have been involved at the highest level of the game. In what capacity ie player/official etc and at which club. Surely you would understand the amount of time the senior coach or official at a succesful club would put in. ECE off field department would win the Admin. GF year after year for their efforts. What KC is obviously trying to implement at Campbelltown can surely benefit them this year no matter how big or small. Isn't that the job of the head coach to improve his playing group in order to win the elusive flag at the end of each year, and if his technology of Dart Fish and GPS do that then well and good. It may drag other clubs along and improve the standard of football within the Sydney area. From all reports it has dropped off the past 10 or so years.

From what I can see the BDAFL have had a few dramas with the software too, as their results reporting hasn't been to the normal high standard.

FWIW, if the KangaBlues or any other club for that matter have the finances and the time to use these tech. aids to improve their teams performances then good luck to them. The only way footy will go forward in this state is if the clubs/leagues become more professional and implementing this kind of stuff is just the start. I'd suggest that it won't be long before other clubs start copying the KB's lead.

                  Bingo!
In my opinion those who bag clubs like East Coast and Campbelltown for daring to do something different to improve their clubs on and off the field either are not smart or resourceful enough to do it themselves - or they are just pissed off they didn't think of it first.
It's still the most obvious point ever written on this board that the dickheads taking all the pot shots are the ones who are too gutless to identify themselves.

I had the pleasure of meeting GoEagles at the footy on Sunday at an engagement I was invited to. I think he has the required experience to discuss such matters as GPS. I think it would be fair to say he has played more AFL (when I say AFL I mean AFL) games then the whole of this forum combined. I am not into the slanging matches that partake on this site but I think YoungKanga (C'Town fringe player) is lucky to be able to post on the same sight as this bloke. It is not up to me to uncover who this man is (that is up to him) but I will say he is the real deal.

Well I guess the important part is that I know exactly what we are using it for and why? You can speculate and guess how it will be of any benefit if you like while I get on with the job of providing valuable and welcome feedback to our players to help them improve.

I think Kangacoach is trying to bluff people in higher authorities that by getting these things that he is actually a good coach.

If the ydont win the premiership this year then questions would have to be asked why they didnt get their money's worth out of the tracking systems.

The Rooster, you seemed to have used the GPS how did you go. How does your down loaded information compare with the YOUNG guys? Are you really only 27, past posts paint you as younger with a chance to crack the big time?

Correct you are. But at what cost does it cost to buy these tools if they cant be used correctly or for the purpose they are supposed to be for. I couldnt understand how a local football club could get any correct benefit when it would take 1-2 people full time at an afl club to monitor and report on the players GPS results back to each player.

Im sure the hierarchy there are soundly looking after their finances but surely the money would be better spent on junior development which would lead to less tuition and coaching when the player ultimately joins the senior group. Unless of course Supercoach is funding the project from his win at the courts, i would say that its a waste of money.

It looks good and professional to have these things but unless you are working on your grass roots and increasing their knowledge at a younger age (which doesnt really happen in Sydney) then it is total waste of time and resource.

But good luck to them - its probably one less player they could poach with the costs involved
