Can you elaborate on this a little more Tara?

Exactly what I said - Balmain should count themselves lucky because resting on past laurels and assuming that becuase they are currently prem div means they will always be is not the way things look like panning out in the future.

And don't give me this "well they should pull their socks up" rubbish. It's a bit hard to pull your socks up if you don't have any.
Totally agree. Clubs west of Ashfield don't have access to the same player numbers from football states as those in the east, or north. Yes, ECE do have a number of local juniors in their squad, but a fair amount still travel from fair distances to play there.

The league have made a seperate model to other states, because we are a different state to them. We need it altered to suit our environment.
In all honesty, what would you, or not focusing on you Duck, because its almost irrelevant, what would those in other states, looking to Sydney football, prefer to see? One strong Premier Division and nothing at all below it, or 5 equal divisions? I can hazard a guess as to what they would want to see, football played in Western Sydney. At whatever level, whatever division.

If football out here was strong, there would be a Premier Division club or two already. Not everyone cares about Prems, I know I couldn't give a stuff about it, same as you couldn't give a @@@@@ about the lower grades. Each to their own.

This is the last comment I will post on here regarding this debate. First point, yes we are a different state with different scenarios to cater for. Queensland is also a state where Australian Rules is not the number one sport, they have employed a fantastic structure that works very well. Point two, I think that it is paramount to have a very strong Premier League competition. That does not mean I am bagging the lower division clubs. I am bagging the STRUCTURE. I think your point Peakay regarding what other people in other states would want to see is incorrect. I am pretty sure football people from other states would not want to see 5 even divisions. Every time someone posts something regarding Premier League and the lower divisions, you blokes from the lower grades get all bent out of shape. We all want Sydney football to improve and believe their can be a better structure to make this happen. Peakay, you might be advised that we could give a stuff about the lower divisions. I do not care that you could not give a stuff about Premier League that is your decision. Please do not get on your high horse and tell me or other members of the Premier League what we think. We generally let you come on here (other than Doormat) and post what you want to say regardless of how stupid we think it is. Please do not take this personally champ.

I see your point, and I hardly if ever take things said on here, whether to me or not, as personal. We all have our ideas and visions of how footy should be governed and run in Sydney, they will always differ. My point is, if the structure remained how it was pre-09, you would see the demise of a few lower grade clubs, as DLH said, 30 goal drubbings at the hands of inner city teams does nothing to keep or attract players. The adage "The rich get richer" is certainly relevant to this problem. Whatever transpires out of the next few years, perhaps the league will see your way as the right way, perhaps they won't, they have given it a try and should be applauded for it. And for every 'stupid' comment I, or anyone else from a non-premier club posts on here, post on here and get derided by the higher grades, 3 from the lower end agree. It's always going to happen, because we see our footy and our club's survival alot differently to how you do.

I think the only change most Premier Div clubs would want is to still have a Premier First grade, Reserve Grade and then you could grade all the rest into Divs, Mainly as has been stated numerous times that splitting clubs up is hard work as you know. Besides Uts and maybe Manly most of the clubs would compete against the others in Div 1 or could be relegated as is now. Dont get me wrong i like the new stucture in theory, but i dont think you can go solely on the last seasons results as i and Shearer have stated previously(And before anyone comes on and says well thats the rules, i know that is the case but i dont agree with it ). We pick up a few more this year plus have 8-10 good 18s coming up to seniors but because we lacked depth this year they are punished and forced to play a lower standard of footy which is not good for their development or the clubs. I think the current system is good but just needs tweaking, and no i dont want our blokes to go back and win a 3rd Div premiership i want them to be playing footy week in week out at the highest possible level............

FACT - the four Uni's will be providing NINETEEN teams this season. What is your issue there? Take their influence out if the game and what a sick and sorry state the game would be in.

Get your own house in order first before you start making "chip on the shoulder" generalisations about other clubs. Sydney Uni are by far one of the most progressive clubs in Sydney and this season will have FIVE senior teams and an U-20s. They are also actively helping Newtown Juniors get back up to speed. All in an environment of tighter funding......

Want to contructively back up why you continually have a go at the Uni Clubs on here? Is it the "Scholarship" issue" (other posters such as hawknik wil clarify just how little is spent this way) or is it just the fact they have a decent ground to play on as opposed to your tip?

With your victim mentality Liverpool will always be scrubbing the floors of the lower divisions......

If you think Rosedale's a tip I'd hate to think how you see most other grounds in Sydney.

I'd rather play there than Uni no.1 any day.

Rosedale is streets ahead of most, if not all, grounds in Sydney. Maybe Blacktown is better, and perhaps Purser in a few years time (it wasn't the best surface this year, personal injuries aside) but Rosedale is tip top.

MP I before you shoot your mouth off perhaps get to know me first.

I have a lot of time for UNSW and even more time for Mac Uni who I respect emensly. I was simply making a coment regarding the state of sydney footy and an obvious one at that.

As for SU perhaps the comments regarding us being junkies, low life etc I could go on forever but Ive learnt at the end of the day its generally the minority not the majority of those at their club.

Also as pekay and others here can testify to im fairly heavily tattooed and look like a yobbo, but im also privately schooled, tafe and uni educated(commerce accounting) and earning way well above the general punter(mind you my ex gets a fair slice).

As for the scholarships Ive had a good look at whats on offer and how do you expect other clubs to keep up with them?

Also I am not from Liverpool and have never been a Liverpool player - I lived (cronulla) and worked in the shire but had a GF who lived at panania and played with Bankstown given it meant I could see her straight after training.

Finally given im a pretty simple bloke who forms opinions on how he is treated and my club is treated - the odd bad apples we have had have been shown the door and Ive made more than a few enimies through this policy yet we still have to put up with santimonious pricks like you calling up lowlifes because of the area we represent.

PS we work with a number of junior clubs in our area and will always do so rather than poach kids who we know nothing about othen than their football ability.

                              just a couple of notes

Rosedale would be in the top 5 grounds in sydney

Bankstown juniors played a round there in 2009 and the parents were

very impressed with the surface and the whole set up.

The bad old days of Southern Districts/South West Sydney/LIverpool

are LONG GONE. The bad apples (which most clubs have a few of are now gone)

Moorebank have worked hard with 2 of the best junior clubs in Sydney

Holsworthy and Bankstown. With Tara and his committe/coaches, Moorebank

has earned respect. Bankstown Juniors now recommend their departing

under 16's who want to continue playing footy to play at either St George

or Moorebank. As a life member of Bankstown Juniors I can't praise

Moorebank highly enough. 2 of my kids have played there and have been well

I will completely agree with you, Rosco.
Know a few of the 18's players and officials through their years in juniors and always got on well. Moorebank are a well run club. Most clubs have had their bad era's and while a couple still are basket cases, most are better run than a few years ago. I can't see how Rosedale could be called a dump. Most clubs would give their lefts and rights to have a venue as good !
