Such poor form to bring up something from so far back in a back handed compliment to Moorebank. The facts are the SWS club banished the player responsible for this from their Club because UNSW/ES numnuts reported the wrong player! The fight started due to UNSW/ES player BITING a SWS player. No such action was taken by the UNSW/ES Club against this low person.
......
As for the divisions, already we see new clubs joining in, so it must be counted as a success. It provides an easier pathway for the creation of senior clubs. Syd Uni & UNSW/ES weren't too keen to play their 3rd/4th's in the old SFA becasue they knew they weren't going to be competitive, so they opted to play in the SFA Div 2. A smart move to keep their players interested because they could play in a more balanced and even competition. This option wasn't available to other football clubs at the time though, even though they knew prior to the season starting they wouldn't be competitive. This was one of the reasons SWS lost so many players and ended up with 1 team. This was also a reason why Bankstown and Liverpool had to merge. This wouldn't have had to happen if the current structure was in place. I agree it's great to have all grades play on the one day, but not at the expense of what few football clubs Sydney has.Comment

I was also there that day and recall things exactly as you have said although to be honest I cant remember who was eventually reported - The player bitten though did seem to attract people who liked biting him.
Bankstown and Liverpools merge had a lot more factors involved that are now dead and buried and should remain that way.
As for losing players there were multiple reasons behind this but the biggest was a lack of involvement at Junior level and the blame for this lies solely at our own feet. It is something we have addressed and this year we will have around 15 kids playing senior football that have come from our 18's. It may take a few more years yet to be competitve at higher levels but it will happen.Comment

I think their are a lot of variables when comparing competitions. By the way late mail, I dont think you have any idea about this subject. Are you from the Riverenia?, you have to be joking. When you are comparing comps, is it the best players in the comp? Is it the best sides in the comp? Is it how well the rep side goes? Heidelberg in the Northern League and Greenvale in the Essendon League would probably beat a side or two in the WAFL. It is an exercise that everyone has an opinion on but their is probably not a correct answer. As Tubby Pudge said I dont think the top couple of players are the problem. It is the depth of the rest that makes your competition.Comment

I meant no malice, I merely raised it as an example of how some, back then, seemed to prefer to box on, instead of play footy.
There was more than one incident.
The point I was trying to make was Moorebank are an impressive, competitive outfit and deserve praise for getting rid of the problems.Comment
