Evan Davis (Balmain) and Mark Powell (ex Swans) to North Shore. Can't forget about the Bombers.

I am not allowed down to dockers training anymore but I have heard only 5 of their best 22 from last year are back this year. Saying that they have recruited well.Comment
-
My spies tell me Blums, Miller, O'Brien, Stanton and some of the Under 18s are the only returnees. Add in their new recruits and they should get close to the top 5.
Norths will be a big improver this year and Campbelltown will be strong. I see Sydney Uni, St George and the Gong down the bottom this year.Comment
-
That is a major cleanout! But with the $$$ and apparently not short they can buy a strong team for the 5.
Agree North Shore should improve, Pennant Hills never count out, Easts be interesting if they stay in the top five, Wests been quiet but should be up there.:Comment

They could go either way, have had a few leave/retire from reports and have only picked up the one guy from PerthThe edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...Comment

I hear both have a few retiring - any recruits to cover the outgoings or can we expect a slide from both?Comment

A mate of mine is at Balmain and he said that there is 18+ blokes who played 1sts there last year, back this year. Sure, some of them wouldn;t be in their best 22 from 09, but its a lot better than you are making out.
Why don't you blokes (and gals if there are any on here) wait and see how they go before you lay the slipper in??Comment

Not allowed down to training anymore??? What did you do?? Not sure why I asked as whenever most people get asked something on this site, they never give an open and honest answer......yet happily hide behind the safety of a forum and give it to clubs.

If you have another look at my posts, I said they would go very well. Factually speaking - from their best 22, there are no more than half a dozen. Spin it however you want peanut. I dont lie.Comment

I think most think they will rapidly improve, with what they are buying if they didnt god there are problems, I dont think anyone on here would think they wouldnt improve especially with all the recruits and $$ buying more too.
I would seriously doubt that anyone would think they would play as bad as they have for last three years with new recruits they are getting, question is how much they will improve...... the only way is for the season to begin and 6mths later everyone will know.
12 mth question is how many will stay?
24 mth question is how much $$ will be left?
36 mth question will they be back to 2008 - 2009 form.
Those last questions will be answered by how much money is spent over this time.:Comment

Hi all in regards to all the negativity about numbers I can personally asure that balmain has 70 plus on the books prior to fossies announcement as captain the playing group are strong and united to pushing balmain up the ladder sure some boys have left and good luck to them and there new clubs.Balmain may not make the finals this season but it's the club that's getting stronger on and off the field cheersComment

Most bag Balmain for the dollars spent BUT ECE have gone Mad with match payments $$. They have paid for Dugmore @ $450/game + a job, Jamie Vlatko @ $1000/game + a job (he will be the best footballer in the comp but a 1000/game), the full back from Southport "Charlston"?@ $350/game + a job, ex assistant coach @ $400/game, they threw the kitchen sink at Power @ offered $500/game & will pick up Jarjoura mid season for plenty.
Word on the street is that old man Jarjoura is back in the good books & is pushing for the 18's gig as he is not happy how the current coach has abandon the kids in the Hills.
Easts on the other hand have picked up several new VAFA/Country recruits for nothing.

East Coast are probably more cashed up than most clubs in the comp, but I doubt they would have that much coin to throw around.
Charltston's played for the Eagles before. I could be wrong, but I don't think he's come back to chase football dollars.
