    Penno to Macq Uni

Just looked at the clearances and there's about 18 transfers from Penno to Macq Uni.

History suggests that Penno usually don't lose too many players to other Sydney clubs.

Is this the work of the U/18's agreement or is there something else going on?

Yep, would mainly be match day permits to allow Penno boys to have a run in Mac's 18's. Mac Uni forfeited their first game but have had decent numbers for the last couple of week's due to the alignment. I think it's the same with St George excess players going to Moorebank. Saved some embarrasing forfeits in the Challenge Cup, so you have to give it the thumbs up

I think we have picked up 3-4 from Penno in seniors, but predominantly Under 18 alliance which is working well.

Mac Uni had 10 we had 4 on the weekend - then again Manly had a number in round 1 one still hasnt been cleared - why I dont know - what I do know is Manly were slack in getting their paperwork together but at least we got a game underway.

We had 21 of our on last night so like our first year slow to start but its building - We are gratefull to Roscoe and the Saints for working with us and the Power to ensure that kids get a run each week - Im sure that Mac Uni and Manly are the same.

St George are certainly moving in the right direction by looking after their kids and ensuring they arnt just hording them.

What happened to the arrangement yesterday?

There is no result on the Sydney AFL site, did Mac Uni have to forfeit the Under 18s?

Edit - my mistake, I just noticed that the game has been transferred to another date for some reason.

Reason being that Mac Uni stuffed up badly and forfeited the 18's because of a double booked ground. Later for the game to be transferred to June. Penrith players were at the ground when it was announced. Great stuff, eh

Sounds pretty ordinary. Not exactly a 5 monute drive either. Surely Mac Uni can't get a second chance at those points.

On a more positive note for Mac Uni, they seem to have adapted quite well to life in Div 1. Would think that their coach would be very very pleased with getting the scalps of East Coast, Penno and North Shore in the first 4 weeks. I know it has it's minuses but the new divisional structure is working quite well I feel.

Surely Manly must be looking at a possible step up to Premier Division next year the way the Dockers are going? Could be a season too early though....

I think that uts and manly both have a case to go up. It seems that there depth isnt a problem with both clubs 2nds already better than St George, Balmain and Campbelltowns 2s. Trumper seems to be the only hurdle for the bats.

What's worse was the game that should have been forfeited was the Div 4 match as this was scheduled to be played on the oval that was "double booked".

Instead they decided to move this game across and bump the 18's as they thought they had more chance of a win......

Bad luck to the 25 families who had to make the trek from Penrith and the mountains to North Ryde for nothing.

Thankfully about half a dozen got to play in the Div 4 game as top ups, and surprise surprise, the sure fire win didn't eventuate!

Arrogant to say the least, glad you got the points! Surely there should be sanctions for this kind of incompetence....

Interesting to notice that Mac Uni they only had 15 players listed on the teamsheet (inc Penno top ups) on footyweb. Didn't notice any young looking guys at the ground that looked like they turned up to play either. A conspiracy theory could be that they didn't have the numbers to play and were going to forfeit anyhow, but saw it as an out and a chance of winning the June match.
As the rescheduled game is to be played on the wet weather weekend, You can bet your bottom dollar that 22 will turn up, as Penno Premier Cup players have the weekend off. But that's fine, should be a good contest at least.....Penrith V Penno.

You would think the under 18 would get the gound before 4th grade, who made the call on that?

Not true... the 18s team named and listed were available. 4th grade was cancelled last minute too due to the same ground clash reason. There was NOT a shortage of numbers.

It's easy to cry "incompetence" but as the footy club we don't control the ground scheduling!! The uni has their own sports plus outside organisations/schools who "hire" the grounds too. We are just as frustrated with the clash.

So did the full 15 turn up at the ground?

From what I gather you are saying, it must be "first in, best dressed" to the ground. Can other clubs take it that when they turn up to play, there may be a hockey game, maths decathalon or tiddlywink tournament on the fields that may force the cancellation of the game?
