It was already raining and the ground was soaked before the Div 2 game!!! Couldnt they realise that the ground was going to struggle before the Div 2 game started???
It was misting at best, spitting at worse when the first game started. Seen as you were there you would know that the weather took a turn for the worst and rain became torrential.

ECE also had all 22 turn up by 11.10am, and from where ECE were standing there werent to many Syd Uni Div 3 players in sight....
Ah yeah? What time were you all gone by? I walked from the Sydney Uni bench up to the front gates a few times during the game and didn't see anything near a group of 22.

You are right, the League formalises any change to the fixture, but only after a request from the club.

They probably left as soon as they heard their game had been cancelled!

I am sure it would be better for a lot of clubs, not just yours, if they had a new ground built for them.

Tara, "conditions" were not perfect at all - we were spanked on the scoreboard 33 scoring shots to 5!!

I was at St Pauls oval at 10am at the start time of the Div 2 match and yes the ground was already soaked and the rain was at its worst. I left at 11.30 and all ECE players had been and gone once they found out they were called off.

I walked back down to my car at 11.30 past the (sydney uni tent) not bench.. and saw officials and a maximum of 10 other viewers...

I understand that the ground was too wet to play on but why play the Div 2 match and not notify ECE. It was clearly not suitable to be played on before the Div 2 match nor is it suitable in perfect conditions. No bench, no canteen, poor changerooms if at all, no shelter, small thin ground, lack of parking...

Now we have to travel back to the same venue on the long weekend to play...

You say it took you an hour to get there but you left at 11:30 then registered and made your very first post on this site at 12:17. Did you seriously speed home just to post that?

Write a letter to the Uni if it's killing you. The club got the go ahead to play in the morning. Were they supposed to say "Yeah, nah on second thoughts we're not that keen."? No doubt you'd have been on here bawling as well then. What were they supposed to notify ECE of prior to when they did?

Yeh it did take 1 hour to get ther, but as you prob wouldnt realise it only took 40 mins to get home.. Amazing with out speeding isnt it but i wouldnt expect you to know as you probably had a 5 min drive at worst or just walked to the ground!!!

It's just dissapointing for both side that the game could not be played on the saturday on a decent ground, but now the result will have to wait for the long weekend which we are all supposed to have off!!!

                Thank You

40 minutes for the trip is norm if you go M7,M2,Lane Cove and Harbour Bridge -
However it will cost you over $30 in tolls on a return trip for the privilige.

Just read Mick's report. Hope Leesy is ok. Don't think too many would recover well after a hit from DeLooze, he is a unit these days.

With regards to grounds and weather - Sydney is a big place. I live on the North Shore, it was raining when I left home & I know it was raining in the city area. However, out at Rosedale it was pretty sunny most of the day and even a bit warm at times whne ther breeze wasn't up!!

I must say - Rosedale was an absolute carpet pretty much everywhere bar the centre square: PERFECT!! Nice work to the boys from Moorebank for that. Not so happy about the touch up they gave us but at least our 3s won...

I'd be interested to hear more about the Nth Shore V ECE game in prems........?

Nth Shore and ECE was a cracking game!!! ECE lead the whole day, but the momentum was seasawing the whole day. Nth Shore dominated early but was unable t put it on the board as the Eagles found a bit of momentum and ran out the quarter with 4 quick goals... Vlatko dominated the first half up forward from the goal square due to a niggle in the hamstring, he couldnt get up the field as much as usual... Throught the game i thought Wason was easily the best for the bombers as his overhead marking, speed and strenght were too good for the eagles midfield, but for some reason when the game was on the line he was put onto Vlatko, and although he beat vlatko late in the game they lost his drive from the middle, big time...

Was a tight and nerve racking last quarter in windy rainy cold conditions. The eagles seemed to dominate the last quarter but couldnt score. A careageous pack mark to Spiteri looked to ice the game for the Eagles deep into the last quarter, but for some reason was not paid.. The umpire was the only one at the venue who didnt seem to think it was a mark... The eagles won every 50/50 contest in the last quarter and a great running goal frm the sideline by Spiteri sealed the game with about 3 to go.

The eagles were deserved winners as they were ontop all day but Nth Shore proved that they will be a big contender come September!!!
