Not suprising with St George, there new coach did that when he went to Easts, track record indicates more money spent then too, however success was limited and look at Easts after his departure, there were mumours too of some not being paid at Easts during his time there but who knows how true that is.

Before this, like most other topics, ends up in a school kid argument about Norwest, v moorebank, v camden, v Auburn v whoever else.... let's get back on topic....
I have been following the Champions League concept on other web forums and notice that it has been officially announced that East Coast have been invited.
Do you think that there will be any interest from players who might be looking to get exposure on a higher level moving to the Eagles. The champions League will be a great test for the Sydney club with some pretty good prize money on offer and of course there is the ongoing suggestion of a Sydney club joining the Northern League you might think the Eagles will be opening that fat cheque book again in 2011 to ensure they get a look in.
I also hear that St George have been on the phone big time with some big scalps on the radar.
I didnt think a sydney club or two was a suggestion but more of a formality from 2012. What other clubs other than EC of SU could relistically get a look in anyway, none of the others have the finances or the right infrastucture behinds them at the moment, not to say that wont change, im sure a few clubs may surpise soon.Comment

Perhaps if people had something of interest to add in regards to the potential coming and goings of players (the topic at hand) rather than treating everything as a cross between a secret Masonic society and the CIA, then it wouldn't happen.Comment

Of course East Poach Eagles will be using the Champions League as a carrot. Probably mad if they didn't. Lots of hype when securing youngsters over that way, not a heap of thruths told at the end of the day.
But let us in on the mail. OK to give the "good oil" on St George etc. How about some namesComment

I know factual evidence is optional on this site but it does come in handy sometimes. If you were to check out the annual reports of both clubs Purse you would see that the dogs spent half as much you guys. As for non payments I think your barking up the wrong tree.Comment

could be wrong, but those were some whispers, sometimes whispers are true sometimes they are not.

As Purse said it was all rumours and we all know how whenever you hear from a player " they were offering X $'s per game" you can probably halve it or at least take a fair chunk off what they said.Last edited by nugget; 24 December 2010, 11:27 AM.Comment

Mail is has approached Kieran Wright, Leigh Lavery, Matthew Withers and Peter Dugmore to provide a focal point. Offers around $500.
Apparantly all politely declined.
Be interesting to see if Mudge can coach with little $$ and limited cattle on the parkComment

Thought with younger list last year they had some good results, if they keep with the young guys coming through add a few senior guys they wont need to spend to much to be competitive this year.
I think Wests and Easts would be more likely to struggle with apparent loses.
Balmain apparently again recruited well, however they did last year too.
But only way to find out will be after around round 3 or 4 when all teams played a few games and some results come in.
Waiting on the fictuxres too, be interesting how they work out who plays only once and who has to play each other twice.
Apparantly all politely declined.

I agree with the above although there is probably room for a KP forward and defender. Hopefully not one of the above but a genuine really good youngish bloke who can win nthe position and grow with the club. They will not win in 2011 but 2012 and 13 should see them really close. They won't see a couple of young blokes much which is unfortunateComment
