So it wasn't just us then, Pekay? When UTS bailed us up for singing in '09, I thought "What's the problem? We're a merged club, we've got two bloody songs, one for the field and one for the changerooms." I don't have a problem with it. I can tell you I heard enough victory songs by rival sides last year, that's football. It's a contact sport...get over it!Comment

I reckon, you fight it out on the field, you get up, you sing when ya winnin, on the ground is fine.Comment

Wish I could reproduce his pre-season cliche-ridden "pep talk" it was hilarious but they have wisely deleted the "Message from Lindsay".
He certainly seems to come with a bit of baggage from Town and Manly but time will tell. The Kookas are a good club so good luck to 'em.....Comment

Seems a case of size 12 feet and size 9 boots perhaps Gull? If that disguised analogy makes any sense. They'll hear their fair share of opposition songs now though, the more traditional clubs won't mind singing it out, especially the Dogs on their old turf, should they get up.

Sure you might wanna rub the oppositions face in it but at the end of the day you got the four points which hurts more anyway. Shows a distinct lack of respect.
Only thing more lame than singing the song on the ground is arrogance in not singing the song at all until the grand final like Essendon in 2000. That was hell lame, lucky they won it though.Comment

Singing the team song on the ground is hell lame hey. Should only be reserved for grand final wins.

I can but in 20 years of being involved up here last year was the first time I ever encountered anyone who had problem with it and to be honest Ive seen and heard a lot more things said an done by opposition that I find far more disrepectful.Comment

The most precious ridiculous thing I have ever heard if someone has a problem with it.....Comment

It's not something that's done very often. Some clubs do it if they've won all three grades away - an increasingly rare event in the divisional structure, where clubs are more often than not having their away games at different grounds.
Other than that, it's usually if another club is in their rooms after the final siren. For example at a game at Olds Park I did a report at last year, Holroyd-Parramatta sang their song on the ground after beating St George's reserves; but that was because North Shore's seniors were still in the away rooms well after the final siren in the Second Division game.
If it's your own club that's playing in the next game you'd stand at the gate and form a guard of honour for the next grade and then when they've run out you'd go into the rooms and sing the song. But if your club's not playing in the next game and your room isn't yet available, I don't see that there's a problem with singing the song on the ground.

Norris, you make a good point, but we've probably evened up our win/loss ratio in recent years, but even at my 1st senior game @ Baulko, I can remember Shore singing theirs on Chas Mac in the wet, maybe coz the rooms has the Seniors in it at the time. There is no hard n fast rule, it ain't 'hella lame' as our new friend thinks, its footy, deal with it.Comment
