    2011 Nominations

    Some observations:

    - Good growth from 71 to 80 teams
    - 60 Senior teams should see Div 5
    - Maroubra and Auburn adding reserves teams
    - Wests and Norths adding a third seniors team (of the 11 SFL clubs next year 7 will have at least 3 senior teams)
    - Manly and Mac Uni adding a second U18 team, big call by the Kookas given the fact that they forfeited heaps of games last year.
    - Manly adding a fourth senior sedie and Moorbank adding a third

All good stuff. What would be great now would be to see another couple of new clubs start in 2012. Blacktown, St Ives/Hornsby come to mind....

    Are you for real MP!!

Pk tells me they wont have 18's, Wests would be lucky to have 1 team let alone 3!!!
ECE will only have 2 senior teams. Marouba have taken from UNSW, Manly & Norths are fighting for the extra team only one club will win it will be Norths! Mac Uni have no hope adding an extra 18's team as they all have been poached by EC. Tara (Mr.Moorebank) hasn't left his cloud yet, as l said before he is running around like Pk talking up his own achievements they have no hope of an extra 18's team.

ITS A JOKE when you talk about growth it is all made up!

Don't see where Moorebank have ever claimed to have a second 18's team in, Floormat. Tara will be glad to know though, as I am sure it is news to him.

Well done to Manly and Mac Uni on having two 18's though. Magnificent effort seeing as both forfeited games with one team last year. I imagine they will both have two teams in Challenge. Hopefully Nor-West get an 18's together. Chances boosted by the Mat's claim that they won't have one.
21 18's teams with Blamain a surprise inclusion. Guess they will be in Challenge given their past. I would throw a guess as to an 11 team Prem Cup and 10 in Challenge.

Assuming there are 60 teams, my wild guess would be
      PD - 11 teams (confirmed)
      D1 - 11 teams (confirmed)
      D2 - 10 teams
      D3 - 10 teams
      D4 - 10 teams
      D5 (??) 8 teams

Sorry to disappoint u mudflap but we have no intentions of two 18s but it would be great if the numbers were there.
As for my cloud it's got a nice view and one that wasn't bought

From what I can see in the nominations, no clubs have dropped any sides at this stage, which is great. Not going backwards is always a good first step.

With sides having to be nominated this early, it looks like some clubs have tended towards the optimistic rather than the conservative. I'd expect some rationalization of numbers to occur when the competitions are finalized, particularly in the 18s.

A sixth senior division (ie Division 5) would have to be an inevitabilty now, which is a good thing. Fourteen sides in Div 4 this year was far too many.

With a more flexible and competitive senior competition structure in place, you would hope that it provides incentive for continuing growth in the future.

Just to throw it out there...

Any plan to split 4th/5th geographically rather than team strength? I would think that players playing that low down the grades would rather a kick close to home???

I beleive the major issue with the 18's for the Kookas last year was due to the incredibly (un) successful aliance between Penno and Maca's. As usual and not unexpected the good of the club was put ahead of the individual/comp. This attitude of the "BIG SFL proffessional clubs" is the reason why Sydney footy will struggle until people get smart.
My understanding not partnership will be in place this year so it wont take half a season to actualy get a full team on the ground.

Any hints on how Mac Uni are going to get 60 Under 18's to sign up without an "alliance" with another club?

They'll tell them they won't have to get up early and head down the M4 to play at Greygums.... but it didn't work this season so I don't know.

Definitely have more chance without the alliance, however good question, I?m sure it won?t be a problem to fill at least 1 strong side. Kookas are seeing the benefits of an under 18, 5 or 6 are playing ones, a couple have left for GREENER paddocks, but im sure once they get the taste of Premier league professionalism they will be back. Big ask though to fill 2 sides, I hear Donny and Latte' are going in for face lifts so there's 2.

I hear they have just signed Davis as assistant coach of their Fourths, (5th Div side) any truth to this?

Wonder how the Westbrook feeder system will work now that Penno are playing at Mike Kenny Oval. One their own they will always struggle to field a team as most kids starting Uni these dyas are too old for U18s

                            Another good question.
I wouldnt have a clue, although we are planted firmly amongst them, and the next generation of Kookas, (10 years time) will come from the Westbrook ranks.
Weve got coaches in there across a couple of age groups as well. They will be steered.

Is there any truth in the rumour Campbelltown will be playing in Premier Division and Division 5 ?
