UNSW was no better last year than St George were the year before but the outcome was very different. A promotion-relegation system IMO should be black and white regarding who goes up and down. That's the only fair way. If not, scrap the notion completely and indicate that the league will reassign teams to different comps each year according to what is best for the league. The league has previously threatened to demote multiple teams from div 1 if they were uncompetitive but then this year they don't demote a non-performing bottom team. From my understanding Balmain and Campbelltown asked to drop a division but St George did not. Put it this way, if you are the Gong, East Coast or Wests and come last in division 1 next year are you fair to assume on this years decision that relegation would be grossly unfair????
    I am not sure if St George are dirty on being relegated last year. You would have to ask the powers to be about that. As it turned out it was probably justified. The league has put into writing the plans until 2013 thus giving teams two full years to work on being at a place where they will be.
    Obviously the new system gives a chance for all clubs to aspire to a higher level with the dismantling of the premier div stranglehold. Sure it will keep all clubs on a tightrope, but that has to be a positive thing.

    So to answer your question, if my club finished last in a division, I would be happy to look at relegation so as to be more competitive the following year. Players in teams that get get flogged week in, week out, bail pretty quickly in many cases

      SHH, has it been confirmed by AFL nsw there will be automatic promotion relegation across all grades including PD?
      If so where has it been published?

        From my understanding PD seniors is not subject to promotion relegation however the AFL prefers a ten team comp and with the new Northern League their is a possibility in 2012 of either promotion or relegation depending upon how many if any Sydney teams are in the new league.

        To quality for PD requires a minimum of twelve months notice of the intention to apply to compete at that level as well as satisfying a specific criteria before a team moving up will even be considered.

        It was clear the other night at the planning meeting that any club entering PD would have to meet the set criteria before being considered. So unless I am missing something I cannot see that promotion and relegation in PD seniors will ever be adoptd.

          -Premier Division & Division One Competition will remain as 11 team competitions for the 2012 season.;
          -At the conclusion of the 2012 season both competitions would return to a 10 team competition for the 2013 season..
          -To achieve this, the team that finishes on the bottom of the ladder in Premier Division would be relegated to Division One. Subsequent teams from that club would also be relegated as required to meet the criteria of only one club per Division.-From this point on Promotion & Relegation would then apply for all competitions.

          The above was the preferred option. Obviously it would depend to an extent on the future of Sydney teams in the NEAFL. That was my take on it anyhow.

Still a little early in the coach signing process I take it as not all applicants have confirmed whether they are available or not. I hear Freney is on that list but is pretty busy at work etc so he indicated he's not available. But I guess J Hird said the same thing recently too!!!! One of the blues boys should be able to shed some more light on things.
            We have a few options at the moment, Tassie hasnt applied as he does have too much on but is def going to be an Assistant. Hoping to have something announced in the very near future

                      Without being argumentative, I know that Tassie has previous made the point to any club he coaches that his appointment does not come with any players from any previous club he has coached. If players from a previous club choose to ring the new club and decide to join them because Tassie is coaching then so be it, but this is very different to poaching or a coach decimating a club which has and still happens..... but I doubt so here.

                        If the players feel comfortable playing for Taz, they'll follow him wherever he goes! These players would've hardly gone to Parra for $$$$. Taz seems pretty switched on with his footy, and obviously juggling a job none of us would want. I wish him well.

                          That sounds wonderfully diplomatic, but army guys from several clubs were approached and promised the world if they came across to join the wonderful culture out at Town.

                            They were paid more at Parra then they were getting with us but that wasnt even my point, all i was saying is that he didnt rape Parra nearly all the guys that have came to us from there were all originally from our club. A bit diff wat was detailed as a mass exodus from parra to us cause he was coaching us

                              Thats very interesting Bert cause i do all the contracts and the only new army guys we have signed are the ones talked about that had previously played for us as well as one new guy who hasnt played in sydney before. Maybe they were talking to the wrong people or maybe they just used us to increase there benefits.
