In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

Balmain (Div 2) and Riverview (U18PD) lost on the weekend bringing the field down to 7.

Several top-4 clashes could see a few more teams drop their first game this weekend.

Div 1 Manly (vs last placed Illawarra)
Div 2 Sydney Uni (vs 4th placed St George)
Div 3 UNSW/ES (vs 2nd placed Saints AFC)
        Div 4 Macquarie Uni (BYE)
Div 5 Southern Power (vs 2nd placed Sydney Uni)
U18P North Shore (vs 3rd plaved Riverview)
U18P East Coast (vs 6th placed Wests)

UNSW/ES Div 3 would have to be one of the tightest units going around, core of same players since about 05/06, crushed us in the 09 finals, I reckon they'll turn it on against Croc's mob this week. Could be a kiss of death for Gull's boys though.

            More upsets across the divisions

The last teams standing are now and their opposition this weekend:

            Div 4 Macquarie Uni (v 5th placed UNSW/ES)
Div 5 Southern Power (v 4th placed Manly)
            U18P East Coast (v last places UNSW/ES)
            U18C Campbelltown (v 3rd placed Holroyd-Parra)

There were some big upsets on the weekend across all divisions, most notably:
Div 1 An undefeated Manly were knocked off at home by Mac Uni
Div 2 Previously winless Camden beat Balmain (previously 6 wins 1 loss)
Div 3 An undefeated UNSW/ES were beaten by 5th placed Southern Power

It's good to see most divisions are healthy and competitive and there is plenty of jostling already for finals berths.

And of course in Div 2, the previously undefeated Sydney Uni went down to Nor-West Jets.

Camden could well have won a couple of more games, but have come up against some teams with there first grade side having a bye so may have been a bit stronger than they would normally be.

I know we where missing a couple of key players on the weekend as well, so im thinking Balmain would have had a few out.

Balmain's results in Division 2 seem to have taken a bit of a downturn over the last three weeks, they only just fell over the line the previous week against a Manly side that are in the bottom three.

You'd have to assume that it's a personnel thing as they looked like just about the best side in it for the first month.

Not sure how a team that has just gone on the road and thumped the previously undefeated league leaders by eight goals could be anything other than the strongest of favourites at their next start "cobber"

Travelling away to a team still ranked three places higher? I know who most would pick as favourites........

Through the various divisions, we seem to be seeing more competitive games, more upsets, and less blowouts and (thankfully) less forfeits. And that's a good thing - it's what the divisional structure was designed to do.

Jets always announce themselves as underdogs.

And in the next breath, broadcast that they love playing "Under the Radar".

They flogged Penrith by 100 in the trial. Hopefully the Rams can re-group and can keep them to about 10 goals on the weekend.

Enough talk though, time to head to the Greygums visitors change room to feed the roaches and rodents.
