Honestly cant believe they scheduled the semi finals for wollongong. The ground is an Hour and a Half away and the changerooms are well below par, and worst of all theres a 90% chance that its going to be blowing a gale to one end as it was today!!! So the games skill level is brought down a peg and played at one end of the ground. Only positive is the unbelievable playing surface.... Quality... No more finals at the Gong!!!

Agree with all this. Changeroom's are not up to scratch down there (though the ground was in top nick) and the drive is pretty horrible (particularly on the way back with a massive hangover). We tried to make the most of it and hired out most of the Best Western Hotel. The players all had an early night and the 10 or so supporters hit the town. One thing is glaringly obvious - they need more girls in Wollongong! Too many dudes on the dancefloor. If the Sydney AFL can have a look at this too, that'd be great.

On another note, we had a Wollongong official have a bit of a go at us because we weren't out of the rooms by Qtr time in the following game. What's this about? I would've thought be out before Half time is customary? After a game you have de-breif (lets say 10 minutes), stretch (5-10 minutes), then showers (22 players x 4 minutes divided by 5 working showers - 17.6 minutes). 37.6 minutes if all goes to plan which it rarely does. To suggest the club need to be out 30 minutes after their game is ludicrous. Wollongong guy, please pull your head in. Cheers
In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

Ill give you one tip, changerooms were better than at Waverley this year.

I have no issue with Wollongong as a venue from a playing perspective. The surface is awesome, pretty good viewing area, change rooms are not ideal but I don't really think the competing sides had too much of an issue with them. Yeah the wind gets up quite a bit down there which can ruin the game as a spectacle but you can put up with that. From the results on the weekend I don't think the teams could really complain that the wind ruined anyones chances.

The only issue with Wollongong as a venue is the actual location and no one was there to watch. If you were UNSW on the gate or C'town running the canteen you would be spewing as there is little to no revenue being made by having the game down there. The biggest crowd would have nearly been for the 18's and that's only because the parents had to bring down the players. There was hardly anyone left by the end of the main game at all.

            How much were the pies?

I watched some of the game on the net. Balmain looked great in patches. If only they could kick straight. If they can get over Uni next week (And they will have to name their best 22 and not fiddle with the team for D2 ) They would be a great show of knocking over the poa....er, eagles the following week.

And a reminder for everyone next week to get to Blacktown for the lower division grand finals. Anyone entering the ground wearing teal will be admitted for just $10.

$10 to get into a sydney game is a joke as well, people hated paying $5 last year and now its costing some families up to $40 just to watch their sons play footy
