Johno, obviously, believes it to be 6.
I, on the other hand, am firmly in the 5 club, which is a simple easy to remember round figure that, to me, marks a significant achievement.
Just as in cricket, where a five-wicket haul is a bag of wickets, in football, a five-goal haul is a bag of goals.

6, quite simply, I term to be 'half a dozen'.
5 wickets in cricket is not a bag. It is the bowlers equivelent to making a hundred runs.

One and the same Doctor, one and the same.

Mr Johnston, have you a better argument than 'it's just not cricket'? Why do you believe it to be 6?

Well it's not cricket that we are talking about, it's AFL.

Put it this way, I believe kicking a "Bag" should be "Special". Like scoring a hundred or taking 5 wickets, so maybe even 6 goals isn't enough. History shows that kicking five (or a "Handfull") is a more regular occurance and 6 or more would generally see that player supply greater than 30% to 40% of the teams score (and be less of an occurance). Therefore, 6 or more being a standout performance.

Plus, the poll says that 70.59% of people beleive that it is 6 or more, so the people must be heard. Based on a estimated Australian population of 23 million, that over 16 million who are with me.

I've never heard 5 wickets referred to as a bag. Always been a five'fer in my parts.

We all do live in different parts though, so somewhere they may refer to it as something else, including a bag.

I go back to my old days of playing footy in Victoria and when you kicked 6 goals you were always awarded a bag to take them home in(and beer). This was an old VFL tradition.
No doubt a bag is 6......
