They obviously include a number of players who haven't played a lot of footy and the mach was played in good pirit despited the lopsided scoreline. And the NEAFL game between Uni and
SHE that was played just before the 18s had a similar crowd.
Wondering if anyone knows how many spectators attend other NEAFL games. eg .. Canberra and the Brisbane clubs.
Is it just the Sydney games that lack interest or is it across the competition?

Brisbane are a minimum of 500 up to 1500 if the Lions are playing

I'm from Sydney and I haven't been to a NEAFL match in Canberra/QBN to observe the crowds first hand. But it seems that those people think they're watching AFL CANBERRA on steroids when two ACT/QBN teams are playing.
And all the traditional rivalries are there and the results really mean something.
But they sure don't travel to watch their team play in Sydney - I was at Purser to watch Baulko v Tuggeranong and I don't believe there was even ONE Tuggers supporter who wasn't part of the management team. And no timekeeper either.

I like your thinking here PK. Don't understand the reasoning for not doing this. Parking would be tough, but it'd be a ripping day! I guess if there are 2 separate GF days, maybe some of the same crowd would attend, meaning extra $$ for Sydney AFL?
In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

Would be interesting, having club umpires umpiring four games for flags.

I like this idea too - you can always rely on the old PEKAY to say something interesting ! It would be a bit of a carnival atmosphere wouldn't it.
But, there must be reasons why it can't be done - shortage of quality umpires would be one, parking another.
Do you people think that the playing surface would hold up ? After two or three weeks of build-up finals, BISP might get knocked around a bit......can't go upsetting the cricket people can we ?

Can anyone fill us in on Jason Saddington ?
He was playing for the Dragons earlier in the season, then I hear that he's been appointed as a specialist coach at SydUni.

And P.S. ....appointed as specialist coach at SydUni then they suddenly go a whole lot better. Can we read anything into that ?

Me again folks - I'll butt out after this......
A source (not 100% reliable) tells me that one of the Canberra NEAFL teams might be out at the end of this season when their deal expires, and that Balmain and North Shore are punching hard to get into NEAFL for next year.

                  Anyone heard anything ?

Could coincide with Hall 'stepping aside' as Premier Div coach as well...

And what's with the 'old Pekay' comment???

                    Oh yeah...that's true...

I grew up in Adelaide, albeit many years ago, where they had zones for the SANFL sides. It seemed to work okay. I agree many clubs struggle to find volunteers over both Saturday and Sunday but we'd prefer to field the extra sides to give everyone at our club a game. What we've done this season is to roster each grade to share the workload. It's working pretty well and it's worthwhile. Grass roots footy for strugglers like me is often forgotten about in all the talk of Premier Grade glory. If anyone moved to cut us back to two sides you'd have a riot on your hands!

I heard about this - understand that he was approached and agreed to commit 1 night a week to assist, now that the RAMS have finished - still playing with the Dragons.

Just your typical S.U. "sleight of hand", make a song and dance about it, just omit some of the facts, you know the ones that are not so important ... to them.

... wonder how many boys get drafted by Collingwood this year

$$$. You can't charge $10 for admission to No 2.

Did the Canberra clubs only get 2-year NEAFL licenses? Sydney Hills and Sydney Uni got theirs for 3 years.
If any Canberra club was to drop out and be replaced by a Sydney club (not that I've heard anything reliable on that), I would have thought it would be in 2014 rather than next year.

I had heard that North Shore missed out by a whisker on getting a licence for 2012, so I guess they would be next in line to jump up a grade. Though one may think that a cashed up Dockers might leapfrog them.
