Have heard a rumour regarding a bit of infighting at the dockers.
Reserve grade coach not real happy with some decisions and has pulled the pin effective as of last week?
Would explain the thumping they received on the weekend.

Also heard another one that your mob could be up for another name change tara.
    Any truth to it?

Anything is possible and if you took notice of our jumpers this year their is a reference to SWS - I wont comment on the previous name change but the club has been known over the years under many different names and different colours hence the reason Southern Districts, SWS, Liverpool and Bankstowns past players are always invited to past player days.

Not sharing what the name change may be?

        Will the colours change also?

I doubt their will be any name change - however I always liked SWS. as for colours you may our uniform includes the colours Black White Gold Blue and Green in it so who knows what if any changes may occur going forward

Sorry to hear that Garry is going - he's been a workhouse for footy in NSW.

When this happens, you always wonder about the circumstances....will he go willingly or is he being pushed ? I know nothing helpful about that.
But the press release says, "...Burkinshaw is disappointed to be moving on..." - what does THAT mean ? Sounds a bit like an 'unwanted push'.

Whatever, I hope for nothing but success for you Garry in the future, wherever that may be.

I haven't seen Tom Harley's email either, but I also get the impression there's more to it, but it's not my place to throw any accusations or judgements out there.
All I know is the Sydney AFL is infinitely better off now than it was before Garry Burkinshaw arrived, and it will be an unbelievably massive job to fill his shoes.
Those who have spent the past six years criticising Garry and his decisions will soon find out just how good he has been.
As they say, you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Best of luck Slim, hope you can work your Newcastle and Sydney magic somewhere else (our home region - the Riverina - needs a hell of a lot of help as well!)

I got the same feeling when I read that line. He calls it as he sees it, does Garry, maybe put a nose out of joint higher up. Wouldn't be the first, particularly with his push of divisions, of which I was a strong supporter and still am. I still remember the League meeting when it was announced and all the Prems clubs representatives were up in arms, but he held firm in his decision, and as Jonty said, the game is alot stronger for it, especially out this way.

Almost irreplaceable. Wish you all the best and hope to have a beer with you around finals time. Onya Gaz.

Almost pity the new appointee. GB ran the whole thing almost single handedly. The draws, accounts receivable, accounts payble, ground changes, rep sides etc etc. The Record arrived today, that's another one that must take massive hours. And going through the paperwork, teamsheets, scorecards, umpire votes, timekeepers reports for the 40 or so games every week would drive you batty.
Saw him last Saturday. he had to open up Henson Hark for the first game at 9 AM. Probably left home before 6 AM. Then he headed out to kelso for the games out there, before returning to pack up Henson when the last game finished at about 6:45 PM.
If I was Tom, I'd be asking (begging actually) Garry "What to you want"...and do my darndest to accommodate it.

Id hazzard a guess the AFL want a puppet they can manipulate(read dictate to) rather than someone prepared to put their balls on the line who would actually assess the situation, implement a plan and adjust with continual evaluation.

This is an astonishing amount of work for one person !
I know he has some office staff to help, but it's a bit strange that he has to do so much himself isn't it ? I've seen him turning out the lights at Monarch at 6.30pm Sunday night then heading back to the Central Coast, and I've wondered about it too.

On one hand, we have the AFL spending $120mill over the next six years on developing footy in NSW. But on the other hand, you've got one fella, seemingly without much support - how are we to develop footy in NSW if one lone soldier has to do all the hard yards himself ?

Guess that the Marrickville Dockers will stay at Henson if that is the case.
Wish the students could pick a ground with parking though.
First I've heard of it - given that there are plans on the table to redevelop No. 1 Oval, including rugby leaving for a rectangular ground where No. 2 currently stands, I doubt it. Unless it was a short term measure for NE games only. And even then that wouldn't sit well with the club - the aim is to play the max allowable NE games at home, it was 5 this season (Ainslie, Eastlake, Tuggeranong, Hills and Broadbeach) but who knows what will happen moving forward?

I would dare say a lot of clubs who have played there this year have complained, the ground is not up to standard, holes, sand patches, goals dont align, way too short, trees over hand the boundary. AFL teams refuse to play on there and ACT clubs are the same but towing the line for first year only....

Only thing the place has going for it is the decent bar, apart from that awful ground.
