Well, AFL HQ, you are in for a reality check. You are in internal turmoil with your morally repugnant drugs policy, you have a NRL that is resurgent and you have the WS Wanderers showing you how you SHOULD have set up your club (and they did it in about 90 days on an oily rag).

You are now treating your GWS heartland, small as it is, with contempt but they have choices. Sydney is the most competitive sporting landscape in the world and people may well start talking with their feet. I have a feeling GWS will become increasing irrelevant on the Sydnet sporting landscape this year, no matter what they do on the field with their Draft assisted squad of boy wonders. The day trippers will be gone and all you will have is soccer mums and a few pimply kids on free tickets. And the people who you really need you will have shafted and possibly alienated forever.

    What a bunch of clowns.....
Spot on MP. The Western Sydney Wanderers have shown them how. They have marquee players that people know, not a set of Neville's who you wouldn't know if they didn't have a name tag. Not to mention the Folau experiment! Doh! Every try he scores for the Tahs cuts into the guts of the AFL. BTW the work experience student was definitely from Melbourne.

I think that the person responsible at the AFL may have been prompted to update the system by someone on here about a week ago, and nothing has happened since......normally allocate five minutes each day with my morning coffee to check for any updates, so it's most disappointing!

Clubs are also notorious for leaving it till the last minute to do their clearance paperwork.

Morally repugnant? I hope you're not talking about the three strikes policy that goes far beyond the requirements of WADA and ASADA and means the AFL is the only professional competition in the world to test for recreational usage outside the season.

Unless you mean making the players undertake such tests is morally repugnant, in which case I'd agree, but think your wording is a little strong.

But notoriously quick when it comes to contacting a player that wants to leave their club for another in the area.

DLH, what do you do with your other 5 hours 55 mins of your coffee break?

Sorry you mean the code that turns a blind eye to marque players like benny boy despite the rest of the world well aware of their extra caricular activities.

Sorry for being a cynic but the afl will let the million dollar poster boys get away with poor behaviour to protect the almighty dollar.

I was more focussing on the use of 'morally repugnant', however this isn't really the thread of it, the reek of righteousness just filled my nostrils.

Wonder if Big Kev will be bringing his mates from Auburn back....

By far the most hilarious footage in recent seasons was Kev losing the unlosable GF to North Shore in 2005 and Kev crying after the game, he was sooo cocky that weekm he just thought they needed to turn up and the team sensed that. If you are looking for a man to claw defeat from the jaws of victory and completely divide your club in the process then Wests have the right man...

Or let players get on the razz and then self report and it not count as a strike.

The AFL drugs policy is a complete joke and farce. It was common knowledge in Perth for many years before he was busted the Benny Boy was a drug addict and did nothing about it and in the process possibly cost Sydney a flad in 2006. The AFL is soft on drugs and now their chickens are coming home to roost

Who can tell with Balmain....perhaps they'll finally get that Sports Club sold off and then they can "import" just about anyone.
But, until then, I regret to say that they're just plodders like all the rest of our clubs. Despite all their mega-hype.

I'm more interested in UTS whose name is prominent on the "INBOUND" side of the clearance ledger. I'm guessing that they're trying to blanket the same catchment area as Balmain (and EasternUniBulldogs too), and you'd think that UTS is going ok.
I saw them playing at Waverley last season and I was impressed with what they're putting together.

It's not fair when tertiary institutions are on the same "level playing field" as high school drop-outs.

But I'm still waiting to hear what's REALLY going on with recruiting, scandal, anything, from Norris Lurker....come on Norris, you have the AFL in your ear....speak to us, oh wise one.

Seem to be quite a few moving between Campbelltown and Camden as well.
