what on earth is going on down there at Balmain ?

I've named this new thread in honour of MUGPUNTER who asked the question but got no answers.
What on earth is going on down there?

We'd all like to hear from the yellow&blacks from old Tigerland about what's happening now...things have gone quiet.
It's been about a month since the walkout, forfeit and suspensions - has there been any thawing in relations ? Any attempt to get the whole club singing from the same songsheet ? The one's, Div 2 and the Lake Macquarie Dockers have all fallen in a heap - where's the old Tiger gone ?

I'll tell you one thing that's happened - the Balmain Dockers facebook page and webpage have shut down. How are we to now get the goss on Fremantle (and, you know what - we were all sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for the latest from Freo, weren't we ?)
What's become of the committee and the people who update the website ?

The website & Facebook page are still there, but they haven't been updated since the walkout.

At the moment the AFL are trying to gather the clubs information about members, finances etc. The club were told they needed to provide this information approximately a week after the protest, and to date I am told nothing has been provided to them. So the board are not doing themselves any favours there. Perhaps the AFL may consider disrepute charges and impose bans, but at the moment that is anyone's guess.

There is a team working in the background investigating with government departments and solicitors in order to get a resolution. There is also a Sunday Telegraph reporter looking to run a story on the situation.

That is all that is known at this moment.

Norris, it's what happens when you don't really have self-belief about what your doing, and you are put off by a little speed hump

Still deadly silent over Balmain way.
Not a word on the website, nor on the Facebook page.
            Zipp.

You'd reckon they'd be pumping up the tyres for their new friend, Freo, as Freo marches on in the finals.
And you'd reckon there would have been a "Go Girls" for the women's team in the grand final.
            But nothing at all.

Did anyone turn up to support their women's team at Blacktown yesterday ? They deserve a cheer or two because they have done well during their short life.

There were quite a number of Balmain fans at the game - but I'd hazard a guess that they were friends and family rather than players from the men's teams. It was a tight contest and played in good spirit, both teams can be rightly proud of their efforts on the day.

Thanks Student - those womens teams sure bring along a big, noisy, enthusiastic crowd don't they.

                Long may it continue

                    Hello all.

Just an update and at the moment there is no real update. The board still refuse to provide information about members who are able to vote to the AFL, or any other information they requested. There is a reporter who wants to run a story on the actions of this disgraceful board potentially this weekend or next. The reporter has been quite resourceful and has more information that we don't even know about, so I will be awaiting the story if they run it.

There is an AGM for the sports club is coming up in "October" but no date has been given for that.

I wish I had more but it is all about the AGM at the moment.

Could they be waiting to run this story during the week that the Freo Dockers are in the AFL Grand Final (hopefully not but highly likely)?

Again I ask, how can Yole and his wife own the Balmains Dockers Football Club?

The delay was due to election/post election hysteria in the media and the reporter was swamped with all that work.

I have no idea how Yole and his wife can own the club. I would like to know that probably more than anyone, and hopefully we all find out soon.

Surely this is a massive governance failure on the behalf of the NSWAFL. Sure there can be benefactors but surely all clubs should be member based (preferably incorporated)?

Agreed. Lets hope the league can lead for once and show the "owners" of balmain dockers what they have done will not be tolerated.

Agreed. If it was me running the process, I would have revoked the Balmain license (which they have the power to do) to participate in the competition until they provide the membership and financial details, and give the license to the playing group who want to run a legitimate football club.
