Heard from a little birdie what the dummy spit was about - seems pretty hard to believe!

            1. Most leagues around Australia are compromised when 1 club has a significantly higher financial backing than others- you only need to look at Albury Tigers in the O&M
            2. The league needs and wants Baulko in the comp. Well done to Oscar and the league for ensuring the club continues (though in reality it was never going to die - it may have gone into receivership and then a new club would have been started, mabye in Div 2 - but there are enough players in that area to ensure there would have been a club)
            3. Why did the league not put conditions to their loan, particularly around player payments? Idea to keep them going good - execution crap. Its like not being able to make your home loan payments and your parents helping your out but you refusing to cut up the credit cards or change your lifestyle. A loan with obligations - surely is was not that hard.
            The perfect analogy

... all they asked for was to stay afloat, and they actual get rewarded with a Premiership Flag! ... gee I wish I had something to sell to the AFL!!!

From what I can gather, I don't think it was a case of irresponsible spending. More of a case of promised sponsorship dollars not forthcoming and maybe bad accounting. I can only assume that this year ECE are very fiscally responsible. But IMO there lies the issue. The players are probably told: You received the big coin for three years, there's no point going elsewhere because Manly, Syd Uni and Co don't pay players. So how about give us 1 free season and lets win a premiership together.

ECE received annual grants to participate in the NEAFL and this is now indirectly paying for their premiership. But there was a chance for the league to bail them out with a few conditions ie. not keeping NEAFL players for free...and they didn't. Oh well. Maybe we should buy an ECE membership and follow Daffy Duck....if you cant beat them, join them.

Getting back to flogs, is that knob Leigh Adams and his white trash family still down at Manly?
