Quite an interesting mission statement produced by the Magic.

We have established vital relations with several surrounding junior clubs with the goal to enter our first ever U/19s team in the 2016 season. This goal is to provide a clear line of transition from junior football, through the academy development squads into U/19s and eventually competing at the highest level on offer in the Sydney AFL competition with the Magic. This not only applies to the men?s teams but also our women?s teams.

Good thing Penrith don't have a junior catchment, or Under 19s, or a womens team..

There is quite a number of interesting parts of their mission statement. From what I hear Blacktowns new catchment area beings in the Blue Mountains and Parramatta regions and has absolutely no effect on Penrith nor Holroyd.

Does that mean that the western part of Sydney has THREE catchment areas (Campbelltown/Camden - Penrith - Blacktown/Blue Mountains) ?
And is there a blurred line between Holroyd and Parramatta ?
I come from east of the M7 but it sounds as if there is some action happening out west. But then, some of you will say you've seen it all before in various forms.

No it means Penrith are unlikely to field a team and goannas are becoming magicians to bobbys dismay. Thats being pretty blunt for me for a change.

Found the recent comments on here quiet amusing and void of any actual facts.

              1. Only 2 players have moved from Parramatta. The 2015 coach who got the boot and his best mate who he brought to the Goannas in the first place.
              2. The magic we're approached by someone from Penrith hence how that has come about. Given this, are players not allowed to move clubs on their own accord??
              3. Not sure where the Camden/Campbelltown reference comes from but 0 players live or have played for any club down in the south west.

Still enjoy reading some of the skewed views on here though!!

Boomer I like to take the piss a bit however nothing I say is lies or fabrication you can interpret it how you want.

I know that Parra are unhappy with you and that is all I have said.

I never said anything about whom made any approaches in regards to Penrith - It is a fact though that the shifting of coach and subsequent players have meant Penrith decided not to nominate an under 19's at this stage.

I also never referred to the South West although someone else did and you choose to respond. Your facts are wrong. You have a ripping bloke who captained your club and played Div 2 this year who played for me a couple of years ago. I cleared him as he decided to play with you cause he moved to the area. As I said a ripping bloke and any club would be the better for having him so good luck to you. He is not the only player I have cleared from us and us being South West Sydney to yourself.

Perhaps dont get too upset and dont read too much into a play on words designed to stir you up but also get your facts in order before your made grandiose statements.

The Magic captain last year has only ever played for the club and no other so not sure what your on about there. If you can name this player that is apparently at the club that was with you a few years ago I might be able to make some sense of it.

I clearly stated Campbelltown/Camden and referred to it as the South West. Not a reference to your club, so take it easy.

                  Looking forward to 2016!!

Is your vice-president no longer with the club?

The shifting of a coach does not impede a club forming an Under 19's team. Both the Goannas and Magic are vigorous in their attempts to recruit players from the west (as the Goannas did in 2015 - Camden, Emu Plains & Penrith juniors). If there is no contact made, players will go to the club who want them and have something to offer.

I agree. In my short experience clubs competing against each other to attract junior players to their U19s is a good thing for AFL as it reduces the number of ex-U17s that just drop out of the sport. If community AFL in Sydney is to grow, and not decline in numbers as per last year, then the transition of players from U17s through to U19s is the most important measure.

I disagree strongly, clubs should not be in competition for each others juniors in my opinion.

Why should a senior club like Sydney Uni be able to throw the Uni scholarship chequebook at players that North Shore has spent up to 8 years developing?

Clubs may be able to offer juniors choice within reason but I do think the pathway had some merit. Is that still operational?

                              Hypothetically...

What's the point in Campbelltown having a 19s in 2015, for them to fold and Camden have the 19s in 2016, for them to fold and SWS have the 19s the following year?

C-Town aren't folding they have a Div 2 19's in 2016. It will be very interesting to see what happens in 2017 though.
