    Clubs promoting new recruits

I noticed on the East Coast website that one new recruit has been introduced to Sydney footy.
In recent times East Coast has chosen to keep new recruits "under the radar" so to speak.
Oscar, has East Coast taken a new philosophy with this and if so why don 't all clubs promote the new recruits ??
You find in country Victoria that they can't wait to get the publicity wagon moving on recruits...

It would be great promotion for the clubs and the Sydney AFL if clubs could announce their new recruits in a blaze of publicity. But unfortunately it doesn't usually work out that way - I think a lot of clubs would be reluctant to make any announcements at this stage after the criticism that Wests copped on here last year after they announced the Jason McPherson signing. (I thought a lot of that criticism was unfair, but it happened).
It's a shame, but that's the way it goes. We'll find out who the new signings are soon enough.

Norris Lurker is correct in his comments that active recruiting by Clubs has been "bagged" in the past.

However, despite past thoughts, we believe that we now have a duty to publicise our recruits and will be continuing to do so.

There are more to come ....

Is there a difference between promoting NEW recruits and promoting players that have been poached from other clubs ?????

Maybe this is why Wests copped a bagging.

Good to see the Eagles looking outside the box to bolster their playing ranks (and of course their coaching ranks as well)

All looks well down at the eagles...

Has anyone got news on other clubs ?

Any truth to the rumour that East Coast lost a heap of players too?

If you class one retired and one to the UK as a heap, then I guess you are right.

Hey Northern Swan, How are things looking at the Cardiff Hawks for 2005??
I've noticed on the BDAFL website that the league remains very active is passing on recent news and keeping their webpage updated. Much more comprehensive than Sydney AFL.

Cardiff are looking pretty good again, we start training on the 1st of Feb so will know more then.
The Juniors will almost close their books on all grades bar auskick as 10s-18s are anticipating 22 players each.

We lost 2 players due to work but normally jag a few suprises with new players coming to the area. We've already signed 2 players from Wagga.

Our biggest problem is our ground at the moment.

I see ECE have recruited another guy from the SAFL, looks a handy pick up. They have certainly done well in the recruitment stakes.

Will Western Suburbs be on the front foot promoting it's latest recruit or is it another bad article from the local watering hole ??
The player an ex-Sydney and Collingwood player, is the latest chronicle coming out of AFLSydney headquarters to be playing with the Magpies.....
