Wests have been great front runners all year, only one game I remember when they've been pressured and they've come back or hang on. If there is a question (and then only a small one) is their ability to pull ahead when they haven't got off to a big start. Opposition sides need to get out of the blocks early to give them a chance.

I agree 100%.. The only game they lost was to penno at henson. Penno came out and smashed them early kicking 11 first half goals to wests 3. Wests never really looked like getting back in it from there. Norths or penno, whoever it ends up, will have to strike early to even entertain a hope of stealing an unlikely Premiership.

Western Suburbs were very impressive in winning the second semi final, and it was their big names who came to play.
IMO their best players (easily) were Stevens, Gambale, McPherson, Fiddler and, when the game was being won, Brewster.
Pennant Hills were as disappointing as I have seen them this year, including their narrow escape against Wollongong in round eight when they possibly should have lost.
They are better than that, but they will need to be to beat North Shore, who were outstanding after quarter time on Sunday.
The Bombers' finals experience shone through after a slow start and keeping the Bulldogs scoreless in the second quarter was the beginning of the end.
However, they did kick 6.14 in the second half and that won't beat better teams (i.e. Wests).
Either way, this week should be a top game, but I can't see either getting near Wests the week after.
Been wrong before though and will be wrong again - whether this is one of those remains to be seen.

The most competitive match I saw on the weekend, even though it was very scrappy, was the second division preliminary final between the Nor-West Jets and the UNSW-ES Bulldogs.
Conditions were quite good for footy but it was a tough, tight match with neither team giving an inch on the big ground.
The Jets were too tough when it mattered, holding firm against the breeze in the last quarter to get through.
Expecting a top weekend of footy this week - Kelso on Saturday, Henson on Sunday.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
