Apparently neither Wests nor Penno received "an invite" for any players from 1st grade or reserves. That probably confirms Gambale is home. But why none from Penno? The side loses 2 games all year in the home and away season and not one player escapes the pack to register enough votes to come anywhere. Interesting.

Interesting decision to only invite the top few for each medal ... we should be trying to increase numbers at nights like these ... not decrease them.

I know that previously policy was that each club were billed to fill a table ... is that the case tonight?

Anyway, despite rumours to the contrary, no invite for me this year, the tux is put away in the wardrobe for another year ... unless they do a Ewan McGrady & call me later in the night!! ha ha!
See me run a marathon again as a leprechaun?

I was told by a reliable club member that the Premier division clubs are to be charged for a minimum TWO tables of TEN people at $83.50 per head plus GST wether or not any one attends the function.

First Division clubs are being charged for one table regardless of attendance at $93.50 per head. I'll be there given that we may as well get something for our money! For the record Penrith have two invitees for the Snow Medal.

Look for Matt Brennan to go close.

Why not hold the Phelan at a cheaper venue at a more realistic price. I suspect most clubs have to give the tickets away or sell them at a reduced price or risk paying full price for empty tables.

Must admit I find it very strange that clubs with no players elligible to win the awards are being strongarmed into attending, or at least paying for tables, when clubs with contenders aren't being invited at all. Or have I missed something?

my mail is Barnaby Howarth will be leading up until about Round 10!!!!!

Gambers will romp it in... but cant collect.

Late mail..... Not one first grade player from Wests or Pennant Hills has been invited to attend.

League only inviting top 10 this year and not top vote getters from every club as in past years.

Josh Flanagan from Riverview to win the kealy medal...
Prince's mail was spot on. Barnaby Howarth was a clear leader at the half-way mark. Gambale polled 24 votes but was ineligible, leaving Dean Davies with 22 as the winner.

Given what has transpired i hope the SFL had the decency to invite Barnaby.

Callen Curry was the other one Benny.

Matt Brennan and Cal Curry finished third and fourth respectively which was a great effort, especially from Cal who was playing his first year of football. Matt was equal leader with four rounds to go but missed out in the last couple of games where we thought he would poll votes.

Alex Lee of Manly won the Snow Medal with 18 votes so well done to him.

Pekay would have been happy too with the Jets having the leading goalkicker and winning the Div 2 Medal. He was also riding the asterisk quite hard in the Phelan and got that home as well!!

Every congratulations to all the winners of the awards on the night, especially the Phelan Medallist Dean Davies.
A great performance from a young up and coming player who should be set for higher honours.
However, I'd like to send my strongest sympathy to Paul Gambale.
I picked it to happen, which proves the system is a success in the Sydney AFL as well (Davies was fourth on my list - keeping the record of a top five player taking the medal, so I can claim it both ways).
I was hoping I'd be wrong with my Gambale prediction because no one in their right mind would be happy to see that happen, but he at least has a grand final to play this week.

I'm tipping a Western Suburbs win by 21 points with Paul Gambale best on ground by a street.

Best of luck to all teams in the grand finals, especially Scott Abercrombie and the East Coast Eagles reserves.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

                                YOU BETCHA!!!!!!
