AFL gets tough with players

"The Australian Football League has vowed to rip up player contracts and impose hefty fines if women are paid hush money to prevent making an official sexual assault complaint."

I'm not sure that payments prevent women from making complaints. There are plenty of matters that were found to not have enough, or any, evidence to go on. The case with MOL and Hueskas illustrated how quickly someone can get caught up in a questionable situation. Wrong place - wrong time, perhaps? A legal minefield this one if u ask me.

I agree Boot - good to see the AFL taking a hard line on these things but there is a real presumption of guilt line behind these reports. Looks like casual sex is a thing of the past for AFL players from this report - unless it's with each other of course.

O'Loughlin said in a statement when his involvement was made public: "This whole matter has caused me considerable distress and the only reason I agreed to contribute to a payment was to save my family from the trauma which would have come from defending my innocence."

Now put to one side whether this is actually what happened or not - let's assume for a moment it did. Should MO'L lose his only realistic career as a result?

I'm not a fan of men whacking off in the bush while their mates have sex without consent in the immediate vicinity but each to their own.
