Hate to be the spoil sport here but our own BBBH is something a serial offender here as well - the only difference is that Baz drops the ball on the ground & for whatever reason the umpires then choose to blow time off. Is there any reason that Lloyd won't be able to take this route now?

I don't think either will be able to anything like that.

It would appear to be against the spirit of the change wouldnt it? Which means a new routine for Baz too.

Hall puts the ball on the ground to indicate to the umpire that he's taking a set shot.

But, when does the clock start ticking, b4 or after he puts the ball on the ground??

When the umpire blows his whistle.

Presumably now it will be from when the umpire decides the player is on the correct line. Can't see how you can overcome the 30 sec rule merely be putting the ball on the ground?

What if your teammate doesn't throw you the ball until you have pulled up your socks, thrown the grass in the air, tucked the mouthguard in your sock, rearranged your tackle, had a spit and been advised to kick toward the left goalpost by an older player?

If I was the umpire I'd call play on but I guess there'll be lots of devious ways that teams will endeavour to get around this.

What's interesting is that with the new rule that you can play on straight after a point is kicked, players will want to be manning up while the kicker is going thru his routine - especially if it's ROK or MOL having a shot.

I imagine this might start a few crowd brawls: Him: "Don't throw it back until they've set up the zone" Her: "Bugger you, get it back quickly", mayhem ensues.

Um, that's possible. Or they might just have an extra ball beside the goal post.

Throw the extra one back onto the pitch to create confusion.
