Just looking at goal of the year again...

I was just having another look at Judd's goal of the year and would have to say that Kennelly's very similar goal is a superior effort.
Judd actually has 2 goals in the top 50 and in both cases he breaks free with the ball but is prevented from being tackled due to great shepherding from his team-mates.

Tadhg, on the other hand does it all himself, Voss is right on his tail.

So, in conclusion, it was a great team effort but an average solo performance.

    I give it... 6 out of 10.

Nick Davis kicked at least 4 goals that were better!

But our "goal of the year" was to win the flag and that is a far sweeter victory!

I'd have almost been inclined to give it to Magic for that left foot snap at the Phone Dome against I think Essendon that took the big break in the goal square. That was a sensational goal too.

    I liked Tadgh's too.

It was the right foot mate. Brilliant goal at that too.

I watched Bells goal from the Round 10(?) game against Fremantle on Fox Footy today. I thought it was very similar to Judd's 'GOTY'.

        Kennellys goal much better.

Yeah, let's just give every award to the Swans (and I read similar things on other sites)...

Judd shouldn't have got the NS either. Fearless Fossie had much more of an influence. Is that what you mean NMW?

I don't think Judd's goal deserved to win, but I don't think Kennelly's did either. Aka was unlucky, IMHO.

Excellent. And Leo Barry should have received MotY and LRT should have been the NAB Rising Star!

Yep. I can't stand Aka, but those two goals of his in the same game were just unbelievable, to do the first was great, but to do it twice...

What is it with the commentators and Judd, he is a good footballer, but not half as good as some commentators would have us believe

The commentators love players who get a lot of the ball, like Judd does. Back when Terry Wallace was starring for Hawthorn, they loved him too.

I'd happily have Chris Judd in Red and White. His big problem IMHO is two fold. 1) He's not the best at hitting targets, given how much ball he does get, and 2) He seems to absolutely dominate in one half and be quieter in the other. Now maybe that's due to tighter checking, but all the stats seem to bear it out. The GF's an example.

Did he deserve the NS? Yeah, probably, but in my view Cousins was more damaging than Judd was.

I agree re the GOTY. I thought the top 50 were outstanding but I thought all of the top 3 were only just so-so compared to some others.

On Judd tho, he's the best new player I've seen in a decade and perhaps the best 22yo I've ever seen. But I wonder if the style he plays actually diminishes the players around him - so much of what he does is brilliant individual stuff that he doesn't bring the players around him into the play much. For this reason, I doubt he'd fit into the Swans style of playing. Wouldn't mind having the opportunity to find out though....

Judds goal was pretty phenomenal individual effort.

It doesn't have the WOW factor tho' which if I was judging would be most important factor and therefore the top 3 would be Nick Davis QF Goal 4, Nick Davis QF Goal 1 and.....Nick Davis QF Goal 3...then I'd maybe give 4th/5th spot to Akers

The guy is a freak. Noone can brake a pack open like this bloke can. He dominates the stoppages, even with tagging being such an overwhelming part of our game these days. You cannot say he isnt the best out there at the moment, he is phenominal. He may not hit the guy on the chest 10/10 like others can, but his pace, acceleration, and ability to read the footy off hands are unmatched at the moment.
I couldnt give a hoot who the commentators choose to get off over each week, but that shouldnt stop us from sitting back and marvelling at someone with such talent as there are only a few in every generation.
