Nine win AFL TV rights from 2007

I just heard on radio that Ch 9 has got the rights, but Ch7 still has last right of refusal or something.

That will suck for Sydney. Ch 9 is like a selfish child. Mine Mine Mine. Then has so much it cant actually show it all - league, AFL, cricket, wimbledon, always clashing and pissing off everyone.
I will be a member again when I return.

I think all of the networks are the same...look at 10 with motor racing...and 7 just sucks IMO. The only reason I watched 7 before was when they had the footy...oh yeah and to watch Jag and Heartbeat...but in the words of Bon...they suck

THE AFL is understood to have accepted Channel 9's bid for the new broadcast rights deal.

But under the first-and-last rights clause, the bid by Channels 7 and 10 will have 14 days to match Nine's offer.

$780 Million, that is crazy stuff.

Nine owns all 8 games - can resell up to 4 to either another free to air or pay tv network.

7/10 has 14 days to match it.

Hello to all my friends on RedAndWhiteOnline.com Messageboard.

All we are having in PNG is Redio National. Unless my friends from St Clair is sending a video, I am getting no televised AFL action of the MIGHTY Sydney Swans (Premiers 2005).

I heard someone on 2UE bantering on about SBS being involved with 9 as well (???) As if they are going to push footy over soccer.

I personally hate 9's coverage and just cant see how they are going to be able to put Fri. night matches on at 8.30pm into Sydney. It will probably be the usual 11.30pm start.

Channel nine said a few weeks ago that they would not show Friday nite games in NSW and QLD - these would be 'farmed' out to Foxtel - but still not shown live. So if you have the money you will have to buy Foxtel. How much of Foxtel does PBL own?

PBL own 25% along with News Corp - Telstra own the remaining 50%.
