11:30pm if you're lucky. Remember that the NRL are going to 2 Friday night games in either 2006 or 2007 (I can't recall which year exactly).

The AFL are nuts if they think that a Ch 9 win will be good for the game in NSW/Qld. Look beyond the dollar signs and see that a better broadcast deal for those states is more valuable than the price tag alone.

On the radio they have been saying that Friday night will be covered by Foxtel in NSW/QLD, however, despite what Les Murray is saying, on 7 News they are suggesting that it will be SBS who wil televise Friday night games into those states. If the latter is the case then surely that would be a good outcome for NSW/QLD.

But as they say the devil is in the detail and we won't know that until after the deal is done.

            Agree.

I will only think this is a good deal if Foxtel are allowed to broadcast live into NSW and QLD games that Nine wouldn't show live here...or if they have indeed gone into a FTA deal with SBS.

SBS has stated previuously that they are a national broadcaster and don't do state by state deals. They are not set up to do that - everything comes out of Sydney.

Maybe they will get the NRL in the southern states to balance it out

They would not go into details, especially Nine's plans for the crucial northern markets of New South Wales and Queensland, until the Seven-TEN bid had responded.

But Nine confirmed late Friday that it planned for SBS to be part of its agreement, helping increase the broadcast of the game into the northern states.

Seven-Ten still have hopes for AFL rights

I just don't trust channel nine. I reckon if they win the rights anyone wanting to watch FTA footy north of the murray is in a bit of strife.

In a choice between money and exposure, the AFL have chosen the money. Very disappointing.

My guess at what the new deal would entail is Friday night would be the same as the current arrangements, with Ch 9 showing them at 11:30pm and Fox at 9:30.
Saturday afternoon, Ch 9 would show a game live and Fox would show the other one live.
Saturday night is where the big decline will be. Ch 9 will get first pick of the games, but won't show it till midnight even if the Swans are playing. Can't see Ch 9 taking the hits on Saturday night that 10 took - so if the Swans are playing Saturday night games interstate be prepared for no telecast till hours after the game has finished. Fox would show the other Saturday night game live.
Sunday afternoon would be the same as currently, with Ch 9 showing a game at 1pm, Fox showing one live and the other one being on delay on both.

Well several thoughts came to mind on this. Firstly, I know that I'd get a stiff jail sentence for taking a gun and .... OK Ok .. deep breath ..

If NINE has stumped all this supposed moolah, they'd be wanting people to be watching the game at a satisfactory time to placate advertisers right? Alternatively, they might start butchering up the match even further by dropping in ads after behinds are scored. But the quick kick-in might have stuffed that up for them.

Worryingly with Eddie on board, we (or the non-Victorian states) won't be getting any support for the long term good of the game.

Good men do good deeds. Evil men do evil deeds. But it takes religion for a good man to do evil deeds.

                                Pay back time for Vlad

From this article by Ms.C. Wilson (I know I know lol)...it seems that Foxtel will show Friday night live and Nine will show all Saturday night games at 9.30pm for the Northern states.

If that rings true, I am very very happy, because it is way above what has been offered for the past 5 years. It would actually represent the best coverage Sydney has ever seen AFL wise.

780 Million is the overall package figure.
