Dean Laidley slips further into paranoid anxiety

    Laidley wary of NFL

Kangaroos coach Dean Laidley says his players will be off-limits to National Football League scouts during their US tour. All the Kangaroos players who flew into Los Angeles yesterday for Monday's AFL exhibition game against Sydney are locked in to contracts until the end of 2006 and can't be recruited by America's big-spending NFL clubs, Laidley said.
Kangaroos veterans Saverio Rocca, Adam Simpson, Shannon Grant and Brent Harvey did not make the trip, with Laidley's squad made up of 29 younger players, led by Daniel Wells, Brady Rawlings and Corey Jones.

Laidley said if Rocca had made the trip, he would have stunned the NFL scouts with his long-range kicking. "If they thought Ben Graham was good, gee, wait until they see Sav," Laidley said

          I always thought so!

I reckon he's never once cracked a smile in public. Except maybe when raving about how he loved Daniel Wells once. Still, I wouldn't like to be at one of his press conferences.

You only need look at who he has traded for to start raising question marks over his mental stability.

So you finished in 16th position...what's to brag about that...except priority draft picks

So should I recall in horror at this comment, or take it as a light-hearted stab?

I think I'll go with the latter.

This is what happens when one is involved with the Kangaroos for a long period of time.

I quickly usher my children out of the room if Laidley is on the box - I don't want them having any more nightmares about the "scary man that never smiles".

                          Onya Laidley,

I could really see some Yank meathead wanting to, from playing in front of 60,000 people@some big stadium and a massive TV audience,to playing in front of 15,000(if that!)lonely souls in that 'world class' stadium called Manuka Oval and playing for a silly club like North Melbourne!

Join in the chorus and sing for one and all!Join in the chorus cos Deano's not on the ball!!!
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

The only guy I know (now that Parkin's retired) who gets white line fever without running on the field.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
