I really feel awful for Smith and I hope he recovers fully to play AFL. When it comes to Eagles fans though, eat dirt.

Here's the basics of the story more or less plagiarised from the article:
- Smith originally began training with the Eagles as an 18-year-old, but was struck down by hepatitis and glandular fever, forcing him out of football.
- In the WAFL during 2004 he kicked 109 goals, including five in the grand final, as the Lions won the premiership. The Eagles signed him up.
- The 25-year-old missed the entire 2005 season with a pre-season knee injury and a reconstruction and rehab.
- He was given the green light by doctors two days ago to resume full training, but sustained another injury.
I really feel awful for Smith and I hope he recovers fully to play AFL. When it comes to Eagles fans though, eat dirt.
