    Oldies & Moldies

As a relative newcomer, I certainly admire the passion of many threaders. As an older South Melbourne person (but in Sydney since 79) I may be old fashioned but the commitment of Gerald Crouch is much to be preferred to the playboys. One of the difficulties on this site is knowing who is being serious as opposed to merely provocative!
In my view Paul Williams has been a tremendous buy. His 5 years plus service is marked by frequent brilliance and every day consistency of an order that is hard to match, and I think it rather rude to see him viewed as merely old by the end of 2006. In my view he will be capable of playing in 2007 if he wishes. What a joy to watch.
Bevan is a "?" but too early to write off. He was very good in 2004. Schneider had an ordinary year 2, but came back strong. Look at Buchanan.
Watching Doyle on some Foxtel games, even in 2004, makes me realise what an asset he might yet be. What is the news on his fitness? Spriggs isn't up to it...Chambers probably not...but this year will tell.

Anyone can make a mistake, but I'm not much impressed by the standard of humor or self indulgence that is so common on this forum. The silly season is almost over, perhaps some maturity may emerge, but I'll just stick to reading interesting threads rather than contributing in future.

The facts are that four (probably) top-22 players in 2005 failed to make it to the end of the season (and one just made it). Chances are that some will not make it through 2006. That's life. I don't know why raising this fact and discussing the possibilities would make anyone want to "puke at this thread".

As you say, t'is the off-season and a long, hot summer without football. There's not much serious footy to talk about. Indulge in a bit silliness.

That's probably for the best. Isn't there some 'block' feature as well? I think a few have used that on me and been pleased with the result.

Wait until the season starts and we lose a few games, then you will see the passion come through and the real thoughts, dislikes and berating come to the fore. Like any good, feral supporters from all clubs, the dribble and incisive ramblings flow in torrents.
Can't wait to be called a fruitcake and moron once again.

I wouldn't worry too much about sly underhand remarks from some of the boring posters. Many people on this site do have a life, I think.

There are many good, footy minded people on the site with a genuine sense of humour. The likes of ROK, NMW, Hammo and myself to name a few. We all get bagged for our views as there are many fans who have trouble separating their "love" for a player from their respective lack of ability.

Then again there are the young girls such as Bon Bon who focus on the looks of players such as Ryan O'Keefe, but have the nous to be able to make serious footy comment.

Of course there are those who are a barkers egg short of a backyard, but that adds to fun of it all.

Tune in for the good stuff mate. I too was a Lake Oval devotee. Stood in front of the TV cameras on the few occasions they were there.
