"Probably the ones standing out at this stage are [Stephen] Doyle, who I thought was really good yesterday [against the Kangaroos]; obviously [Paul] Chambers and [Ted] Richards, who we got across [recruited] to play senior footy; [Jarred] Moore and [Luke] Vogels, both in their second year and who have been good in the games this year; and then there are the other ones who you are really looking to step up, a few who haven't played yet - [Jarrad] McVeigh, [Tim] Schmidt, and [Josh] Willoughby.
"I have been really pleased with some of the younger guys. Kristin Thornton has been very good, but he's very young, as has Kieren Jack, but he's on the rookie list, and we were really pleased with Matty Laidlaw yesterday. Ryan Brabazon has really improved, so has Ed Barlow. Paul Currie has been kicking goals at full forward.
Just as he did the week before, when he kept a tight grip on Essendon skipper Matthew Lloyd, Vogels - who played 11 games in the forward line and kicked seven goals last season - again looked good at fullback.
