    Roos readies young blood transfusion

    Link

"Probably the ones standing out at this stage are [Stephen] Doyle, who I thought was really good yesterday [against the Kangaroos]; obviously [Paul] Chambers and [Ted] Richards, who we got across [recruited] to play senior footy; [Jarred] Moore and [Luke] Vogels, both in their second year and who have been good in the games this year; and then there are the other ones who you are really looking to step up, a few who haven't played yet - [Jarrad] McVeigh, [Tim] Schmidt, and [Josh] Willoughby.
"I have been really pleased with some of the younger guys. Kristin Thornton has been very good, but he's very young, as has Kieren Jack, but he's on the rookie list, and we were really pleased with Matty Laidlaw yesterday. Ryan Brabazon has really improved, so has Ed Barlow. Paul Currie has been kicking goals at full forward.
Just as he did the week before, when he kept a tight grip on Essendon skipper Matthew Lloyd, Vogels - who played 11 games in the forward line and kicked seven goals last season - again looked good at fullback.

Roos recalled Vogels was recruited from Terang-Mortlake as a defender, but with Sydney's back six so settled, the 22-year-old was unable to pick up a game in defence last year

I think he had more touches than he did in the H&A last year.

Good thing he is the coach rather than any of us eh? We might be into year 73 otherwise.

Funny, I though people were allowed to express an opinion on this site, not just follow the club line on each and every issue. Roos thought Doyle played well, most of RWO users didn't, its not the end of the world.
          Once was, now elsewhere

Good to see Schmidt and Willoughby are in the frame for round 1.

It will be interesting to see how they go in the next couple of trials if they get a game.

Not sure who'll they'll displace though, given Moore must be ahead of those two and McVeigh at this stage of the pre-season.

Really? I thought he was the best ruckman around the ground on Saturday - lowered his colours a bit in the taps tho.

And compared to "Torture" Chambers, let's just say Roosy will be praying that Doyle can stay fit.

agreed, thought he started pretty slow but he had a pretty good second half and took some solid grabs around the ground

chambers doesn't look like he's going to do anything around the ground which is not acceptable for a rukman in hte modern game

I thought Doyle was OK. He left the ground in a vertical position.

Lucky it wasn't a horizontal position, or we would have to look to Chambers for backup ruckmen...

Paul Roos is arrogant. Brett Kirk is a phoney.

lrt would be a liability in a final
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I'm still looking forward to the first time I see you post a view that dissents from the club line.
