Again, my initial point was simply that I don't understand why he feels that finals are legitimate excuse every year when other teams also have the same issue. It would be understandable perhaps for the grand finalists to start a bit slower (but not all do), but he's saying it's been the case for the past three years. Seems a strange excuse, but it's hardly the case I was "hooking into him" such that he needs such strident defence.

My point was that just because Paul Roos makes some comments in the media (probably aimed at misleading the Melbourne media and the other coaches) you didn't have to get your knickers in a knot. Especially considering we hadn't even started the season proper.

I cannot recall ever seeing you make any comment that is not an unconditional endorsement of anything Paul Roos, the players and the club do. I can recall, however, frequent criticisim of people who dare to do this. Your suggestion that NMW might feel guilty (!) for daring to question Paul Roos is the best example yet.

It is unrealistic to expect that you have assessed every single issue on which you have posted on their merits, and every time decided that on balance you agree with the club.

Our record in the past three years will be no use if we find ourselves 1-4 or 2-5 and then Baz does a hammy or Goodsey does a knee.

In our first three games we play two teams that missed the finals and Port at home.

If we're not 3-0 then I'd be very disappointed. 3 early wins its 12 points they can never take off you.

As Premiers we should be aiming for a top 2 finish which becomes very difficult with a slow start.

I really can't understand the lowering of expectations by Roosy given the fact we have no key players out injured at the moment.

I said "Why do we use the finals as an excuse for a poor start?" - this is "knickers in a knot"? It was simply a question on a strange comment given other teams appear in finals plus we have a decent fixture early.

You sit in a very strange palce then. I don't comment on everything he says. Questioning what he says is not always an attack.

I don't always attack him - I also praise him and the players. I have balance - have a look at some of my match reports. You always take the same party line and cannot stand anything else.

LOL. You accuse me of biased commentary, and yet your analysis of my comments is just as biased. I have had many pot shots at under-performing players, but like to see the positive in their efforts too.

I didnt suggest NMW felt guilty, I just wondered why he was so sensitive to my efforts to defend the current premiership coach. And that applies for everyone that reacts so strongly to my defence of my team and a successful one at that. My defensive nature stems from my disdain of the 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'. We should celebrate successful people, rather than find opportunities to pick holes in what they say or do.

My view of events: Paul Roos comes out and says (out of honesty or to out-fox the other coaches) that he is not fazed by our pre-season performance. We may lose a few games but then we did last year too.

NMW's view: We are making excuses for poor performances again.

It has always been his way though. Regardless of our performance at the time, he has almost always hosed expectations and pulled out the 'no stars' and '22 players working hard together' lines. Admittedly frustrating to hear for supporters, but I seriously doubt there is any real substance to these comments. I am convinced they are purely pulp for the Melbourne media and possibly the other coaches (if they are still stupid enough to believe it).

What rubbish. NMW's comments and the overwhelming majority of comments to which you take exception have nothing to do with Tall Poppy Syndrome. They are based entirely on disagreeing with his view or actions on certain issues. That is called thinking for one's self and having a balanced view. Tall Poppy Syndrome?

But you do not simply agree to disagree. You have a habit of implying that people are unfaithful in their support if they dare to criticise anything that the club does.
