    Eh?

One miscued tap from Jason Ball or one mistimed leap from Leo Barry two weeks later could have been enough to cost us the flag. Yes, we got there and we deserved to win it, but don't get carried away - it was far too close to be saying the plan was 'precisely what we needed in a Grand Final'.

Field umpire doesn't give a crap free kick to Tyson Stenglein we have a home Prelim final
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

I agree, but it's beside the point. It's not as if the game plan gave us an easy run to a premiership. All it really did was give us a couple of rolls of the dice... happily two of the three went our way, and they were the most important two.

If A = ultimate plan to win grand final and B = win grand final, is the truth of A contingent on B. No

Given our list, Roos took created the game plan, the discipline and the fitness to give us a chance - they pulled it off with some luck.

Sort of like the Guns of Navaronne - we should never have won, but strangely, for those watching the story unfold, there was a sense of destiny.

I think Roos is just setting people's expectations so it's all upside. The opposite would be to say we will whollop every team in the first six rounds. He would never say that.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

So you mean he's learned from Peter Schwab's mistakes?

            I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

A slow start per se is not generally the problem. It's how we perform in that period and also using the excuse of the finals, as if we're the only one to suffer.

Still, our draw is not too bad early in the year, so we should do okay.

I Like Legs' analogy of Guns of Navarone. Seems just right!

If you look at our draw, we should be comfortably 6-3 by rd 9.
I have this feeling that he really isn't interested in boosting your own ego NMW. He could just as likely have come out and said "We won the Grand Final last year, so you have nothing to worry about. Furthermore, unless you are going to do the job yourself, get off my back and stop nit-picking at everything I SAY. What I DO is far more important anyway"

Seriously, why do you care whether he is 'making excuses' before the first round has even begun? We could well be 9-0 or 0-9 by rd 9, and all off this conjecture would be totally moot.

Oh here we go again - we can never say anything that be interpreted in any way critically or Schneiderman comes to the rescue.

Any conjecture we do here is essentially pointless in how we do anyway. It's just having a view, which is the purpose of the site.

My point is simply that we use finals as an excuse for a poor start as if we're the only team to suffer from this.

I'll be more clear. Roos isn't going to change his communication to the media so that you aren't upset by his 'use of excuses'.

Oh here we go again - we can never say anything that be interpreted in any way critically or Schneiderman comes to the rescue.
Well if you attack him, someone will defend him. Its whats called healthy debate. Unless you feel guilty about your criticism, expect me to defend the first premiership coach in 72 years. This is especially true when you start hooking into him about some meaningless comments in the media.

Any conjecture we do here is essentially pointless in how we do anyway. It's just having a view, which is the purpose of the site.
                      That goes both ways.

Fine. But can you wait until we actually have a poor start. At least then we will have something factual to argue over, rather than some comments in the media three weeks before the season has even started.

Perhaps more Swans players carried injuries further through the finals than players for other teams. I know some people like to think the Swans were fresh as daisies and that the media reports were lies but gee, I wonder if maybe...

We certainly had a lot of surgeries post-season. Maybe you are right.

You are like some sort of moral crusader who thinks that just because you worship the ground upon Paul Roos walks, so must everyone else. Your haughty censuring of anybody who dares to think for themselves (which you appear incapable of doing) does get annoying.
