    Ignorance is bliss.

He kicked 52.24 last season at 68%. Nah, you're right, he can't kick straight.

Compare that to Nick Davis who kicked 38.20 last season at 65%, if Davis has a worse percentage than O'loughlin, Davis must be bad!

    C'mon Chels!

Magic varies between being a lovely kick of the ball and kicking it like a crippled grandma.

What generally seems strange is he appears more likely to kick a hard goal than an esay one.

For a forward he kicks a lot of floaters and helicopters.

However, he's generally effective in terms of accuracy.

His range is quite limited now though and many of his goals come from close in. This was one of the key problems in the GF.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Agree with your notes on MOL (wasn't it Paul Roos who said he couldn't kick over a jam tin")
His weeknesses are his decreasing range and his confidence, he's never a good bet near the 50, and if he's missed a few he's unlikely to meake it from 10.

I've always maintained that the most important kick of any Swans game is the first one that Magic has on goal.

If I had a kick on an extreme angle to save my life, Micky would be the one I'd choose to kick it for me, moreso than Davis even.

Either that, or my mother, because at least she'd care. (Apologies to Dennis Commetti).

He kicked 52 goals in 23 matches - a more than decent output from the second target up forward. He set up countless more through sleight of hand that most footy players could only dream about.

Methinks there's a lot of football left in him yet.
Any side that boasts a full forward who kicks 80 and a pocket who kicks 52 with handy backups like Nick "bloody Davis and Ryan O'Keefe will be around comes finals time once again. Every other club would trade their whole sides for these 4.

Me too, although I'd make sure he had no time whatsoever to think about it.

lets drag two from the 'Magic' archives of '05
one with no time to spare; the checkside from 50 against essendon at the dome.
                  one with plenty of time to think about;
the tight angle set shot against the saints PF'05 both at crucial times - both pulled out of the bag like a rabbit from a magician hat. yes, a few shockers in there - mostly Q4 GF'05 but the man has the X-factor - until it becomes the Y-factor what is the argument? time will tell, nostradamus wannabees.

So is there a 'natural' successor? To me, on the current list, no! Malceski may have the ability to step up, but at this point, it's far from a shoe-in!

                    Any other ideas?
I have always said that he is most dangerous when he is ket in the goal square at full forward. He has a great mark, can still lead OK, can crumb like the best of them. And is generally extremely dangerous aroound goal.

The gtendons around his knees are gone from what I hear. Hence putting him anywhere other than FF or FP is pretty much a waste of a player.

He still has the knack to kick an instinctive goal. It is just a case of him being physically able to stay out there.

LOL. I always watch how he's kicking them in the warmup.

And his first shot in the GF was instructive.

I remember against the Cows last year at the SCG Magic kicked the first 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the game at the same end and we got totally smashed from there.

Seems like history repeating against Port yesterday. Possibly a bad omen.
